It would be nice, but they would cost - the research and design effort would eat up a lot of hours. This has been discussed before. If the best-flowing heads possible were designed for the Nailhead, would the engine still be a Nailhead? The best possible heads might resemble the Ardun heads built for the Ford flathead (think three-main-bearing hemi). I do not believe that it would be possible to manufacture really outstanding heads for our beloved Nailheads that would leave the engine with it's present configuration and appearance.

12.9 is my goal for this summer. The car runs good but Iwill have to see what it does first time out. Hope the top end is there. I know I am going to need some type of slicks. The bfg drag radials dont cut it.

You are right about most people when they built a Nailhead 10 years ago...either they built nailheads so it is the correct motor or for nostalgia. But not now..look at some of the amazing creations people are comming up with the nailhead.besides that how about that blown 62 falcon with the 671 blower sticking out of the hood on top of a nailhead!! That isnt appealing?? i think it is just plan SICK!! Who doesnt love a blower on a nailhead or hell why not a turbo??You said it just does not appeal to many. well how many turbo nailheads have you heard of or even seen?? I have seen three which one is mine,a twin setup in conn and the third is in sweeden. How many ls1 swaps in a "A" body have you seen?hell how many ls swaps in general. They are appealing because they are cheap to build.. not because they are technical to build..well i have already put two ls motors in two different setups with my highschool students... 500hp is easy out of a ls.. hell 700 hp is easy w/ a turbo..They are a great motor and not tring to take away that but the are normal now. You put a ls motor in a 65 lark for the same reason.. more power, wow factor ,hp per the dollar..I am not knocking your setup at all.. you put a very nice engine in a nice car but the word appealing is in the eye of the beholder..I will never put a chevy motor in a Buick but i will take what Buick did and make it better. i could have saved tons of cash and built a lsx but than if i did that i just should have just built a 69 camaro and put a ls1 with a t56..I Think people who build BOP are just different in general. I am not the normal guy when it come to cars but why not push the envolope with hp out of a nailhead. With my build it isnt about how much power i can make or hitting 800 ft torque..(will be nice when it happens!!) but it is about a idea i had. I want to do the Power tour and some of the Pro-Touring events this year and want a car that i can drive 2500miles, turn up the boost race it and than turn it back down and continue to another autocross/drag event.
Didnt mean to ramble but I DID.
To me mid 11 sec is very reachable with a nailhead.
