The wonderful aspect of having a hobby closely aligned with making a living is that the hobby becomes a potential source of income. this forum is obviously used by buyers and sellers to advance each other's goals; nothing wrong with that.

Where is the post listing the <11sec NH cam card spec? How about carb set-up? Head flow characteristics? part numbers for valves and springs?

there have been very specific threads covering these topics in the last year and i think you will struggle to find the above specs posted for that combo. (although i'm willing to admit that i possibly missed it.) pretty simple items - doesn't take a book. easy to input with single finger. if the whole picture is so complicated and full of details, why not start with the easy stuff?

I have been reading these nailhead threads for awhile. I will say I have seen Tom talk about the lift ,duration and duration at .50 of the new cam on I think walts cam post. Also Tom has stressed higher lobe seperatons of 112 or 114. I do know he has talked about heads, longer rods, compression, valve springs, carb sizes on 2x4 ect. Its just spread out. I gotta say its a lotta fun when you get a thread started and Tom , Walt, Doc Erick and alot of poeple start adding to the info and Idea. I sure have learnd alot about trying to make the nailhead go. I remember when I first read this post and it made me realize that to get a nail to really go I wasnt going to be able call jegs or summit.

It boils down to this; speed costs money, just how fast do you want to go?????

i hear you thier on that!! not cheap to make a nailhead run with the big dogs... i got 6k in that turbo build (fuel, ign systems included)not counting the engine.. sh** it better make big torque numbers for the money i have into it. why hasent anyone else turbo these engine? is it the cost or the fact that they dont want to modify a stock car to much?

i thouroughly believe in the turbos.... just look at what the GN's are doing,,, but,,, i want to stay away from all that complex stuff you have to do with the sensors and computers and so on... that is the reason that I havent turboed my cars......I do have a s/c riv......

what your doing is great,am sure the car will make big torque, cant wait to see how it comes out.part of no one else doing this is what you say, money is a big factor or if some one has a real nice car and wants to leave it stock. along with that, like me i dont know how to make some thing like that work.after you do this if you share your work with us,some one might try it too.it will be a lot easier after all your hard work. just what i was thinking could be wrong.

I would say more people don't do it because it is an odd pursuit. Most turbo guys are in it for all out performance and there are better engine choices for that. And, most nailhead guys keep their nailheads either for nostalgia or because it is correct for the car, not to go fast.

I understand why you are doing it. But, it is just not a project that appeals to many.

I for one cant wait to see how the turbo does. I was talking to my machinist on sat. about turboing a nail. If we go back to the quistion of this thread, Who has made a nailhead go into the 12s.I recall a thread were GSGTX said he broke into the 12s. All the other engine makes The first thing you do is call jegs or summit and get heads. That is what makes this engine kinda fun and makes you think how to get more power.

Bob, yes am in the 12s.my car is very streetable.it idles about 700 rpm in drive, you can tell theres a cam there nothing bad.it has 3.23 gears a 2 speed tranny, thats in a skylark, in a big riviera you could run about 13.5,thinking that a riviera wieghs about 4200 lbs ? you would need a 3.42 gear in a bigger car.with any 2 speed car you have to make sure the engine will still pull when you shift from low to drive, and not bog down.we all know that off the line is no problem with da nailhead.TORQUE.

  14. Flint Flyer has been sold.

Car is being relocated to Mich. and new owners will hopefully show/go it more than John did.

They have discovered more information about the program and hopefully will post what they find here. I think they will have it at the next GS reunion.

Does that 2-speed trans have variable torque converter, or do you come off the line at 700rpm?
