This may sound stupid, but what I have used & works pretty well is DeepWoods OFF. Soak a rag with it & do one even swipe along the Lenses. Now DON'T touch them for at least 12 hrs. They will come out nice & clear. Tom T.
How does that happen Tom? Like you were leaning against a light and spraying yourself, then noticed the lens was clear? That's weird......
Tried two things last night on a test patch on the broken off lens. One was toothpaste of all things and entirely too mild (abrasive wise) and then the good ol' NOVUS. It came out surprisingly clear, but still had a yellowish tint to it. Held up against newsprint, I could actually read through it, and where nothing was done could barely see a pic on the paper page. Going for the deep-woods OFF today. Its kinda like new chrome vs. rusty polished stuff. New one look sooo bright and clear, yet NONE are available. Damn Dorfs (LOL). After a flip, you know what Ill be looking for come spring! Something with T-3s haha... Back to puttsing around with it today if it dont rain. Still have to get the atom smasher mounted in garage B; ol' man snowballs is just around the corner. ws
I used some of that "As Seen On TV" stuff from the local drug store on my truck. It worked really well and only cost $9.99. Plus, there is enough in the bottle to do several pairs of headlights. Can't remember the name of it...
I have used the 'kits' made for cleaning plastic, plain plastic polish and machine glaze. All have worked.
Had a kit for the wife's cliTAURUS and it failed miserably. I'm determined to come up with a solution! ws
Simichrome, nothing better for cleaning lens that I know of. Nothing better for most stuff, either. The Novus is usually good for finer work. You can get the simichrome at most MC shops.
Ordered a 1-1/2 oz. tube from the bike shop in town... $10.00! Hey, if it works ill blast it all over the 'net and re-lable tubes and sellem' for $35.00. Cant believe all the parts for an '88 are N/A. ws
Bill, the other thing is....once they are clean, you have to clear them for them to stay clean. They will only last maybe a year clean w/o clearing them. They won't go right back to dull, but they will slowly deteriorate again. But if you are flipping, guess it doesn't matter. But it's killer polish, I use it on lots of stuff. You can buy it on amazon in like jars pretty cheap. It's better than Autosol, Flitz, Mothers, Blue Magic, Meguiers, and a ton of other stuff. That's why bike shops carry it.
We are definitely flipping. I have had a headache since that thing came home. I am allergic to mold and I believe it is now in the house. My $800 Air purifier is not getting rid of the spores....ppat
I am NOT allergic to Dorfs. Just the neglect this poor thing endured. believe me, I am now hooked on Chevy...ppat AND my Buick...Lol
Well...it's the old good news, bad news Pat. The bad news is the mold spores. The good news is once Bill gets that Simichrome polish, you can punish him by making him buff all your silverware, pans, toaster, etc., anything in your kitchen that doesn't gleam now!
I shocked her once while she was in Missouri visiting her kids... I put her copper bottom stainless pots on the buffing wheel and had to wait a week for her to notice. She's a good ol' gal and humors me with all the projects Ive got going. She's not afraid to lend a hand when feasible too; tomorrow we pull out the old fuel tank... no mold underneath LOL. The whole inside is now totally prepped for surgery with a good dooshing with Lysol and closed up for the night. Soaked all the door guts with PB several times and finished up putting door panels on today. Almost everything works, sorta. It is a dorf after all. ws
Im second generation... dad started at Electro-Motive in 1940! Non G.M. car owners were required to park in the back lot! ws
