Based on the title of the thread, many of us likely thought we were going to have to quietly boo the choice you were making. Glad to see you are actually going the other direction.

My biggest wonder is why not just get another 350 Chevy engine to swap in. It doesn't matter what part of the country you're in, look on craigslist, they're everywhere. Seems like by the time you go through the changes of motor mounts, adaptor plate, frame mounts, gas line on the opposite side, wiring, exhaust, etc., well, you get the picture.

Just more of a pita I'd just get a fresh shortblock with a warranty for $700 and be on my way

By the time you buy all the goodies you need you'll have the price of a new motor.

A good low mileage direct fit motor would be your best option in my opinion.

He already has a Buick 350.

This is V8 Buick after all...;)
I'd take a running weedwacker apart and put Buick power on it if it was possible.

I say go Buick, that adapter for the trans is @ $80 IIRC

I coulda put in a new Chevy crate motor in my Chevy pickup for way less then it cost to build and install the 425 Nailhead. Then I woulda had a truck just like everybody else's. No thanks.

I'm willing to bet the daughter will get 2 or 3 MPG better fuel mileage with the 350 Buick power!

I'm willing to bet that if gas mileage was a priority dad would've bought her a Prius.
    ;)
I'm glad to see dad bought her something she could learn to work on; I bet she already knows how to change a flat tire. Something most kids today would have to call Triple A for.:cool::cool:

I was merely pointing out another advantage of swapping in a 350 Buick over the Chevy 350!

My bad Bob, I'm sorry. I read that the wrong way. I thought you were posting another reason to stay with a Chevy instead of upgrading to the Buick. :D:D

Good Deal Crash, use something you have , if GM could put Olds motors in Buicks & Pontiacs / Small block Chevy's in Cadillac's etc.. in the late 70's / early 80's Why can't you.....

Get a 2004r trans. They come with BOP and Chevy bolt pattern.

Except He can't bolt his 4wd-Transfer Case on the back of a 2004R.... I know "details" LOL.....

Oh yeah - I see its a K10. I'd scrap the SBB idea then - its gonna be a real pain to get everything in the right place and aligned with the transfer case, front drive shaft length, etc.
