Here is a cheap set of the rare Buick super sport wheels for refinishing or resizing. If I didn't have an extra set already I would snatch them up! http://www.ebay.com/itm/180793925002?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
wow, pretty crazy 1971 only huh. I LOVE THIS FORUM. Answered my own post by seeing other threads and pics of them! Sharp wheels!
>>The Buick super sport wheels (at least this style) were available in 1971 and part of 1972 before they were discontinued. They were probably not as popular as the Buick rally wheels due to their smaller size (14x6). I solved that issue but having the centers cut out of mine and welded into new 15x7 and 15x8 chrome rimshells along with painting the centers body color.
I had a set on my 1974 Gran Sport, they were an optional wheel. If I remember correctly they were 15 x 6. It was a black car and the rims were painted a dark gray.
>>Dark gray was the factory color for the Buick super sport wheels, though they were only offered in 14x6 - which is probably why they didn't really catch on.
Just dug out my old window sticker. Option F6 - Steel Belted Radial Ply Whitewall Tires GR78-15 with Styled Wheels 176.00 It doesn't show the wheel width. I have an old photo from 1974, but I don't know how to post it.
Hmmm, the ones I had were painted body color (fire red) with chrome/stainless trim around each hole...
Here is a photo of the dealer's booklet from 1971 listing all the available wheels including the super sport wheels.
>>Buick super sports did not have stainless trim around each hole - those sound like Olds wheels to me.
