hey guys. I was recently at a junkyard and about lost my cookies.. there in the corner of the lot was a mashed up heep of steel. all i recognised was the LOGO, GSX... whata waste.... If you got any pics of rotting muscle cars, I'd like to put together a nice sized collection of fallen warriors, with some kinda music track... Help me out with your pics and choice of music...

Ps. This isn't the car I seen, I borrowed this.

    Thanks David Carter

Don't cry too much. Check out the yellow GSX somewhere in the Carolinas.
Amazing what people will do with a rare car!

If you get a pic of that totaled GSX, send it to me so I can add it to the site!

Hey, mine's there too. Am also looking for parts. In dash tach, AM/FM radio to name two.

Ken, you can get a pretty good idea of what yours would look like rusty from looking at it. Just imagine a corroded top on it too.

    Hey Mike-

Don't take this the wrong way, but I've looked at the pics of your car and have practically got down on my knees and gave thanks mine doesn't have that rust. That's quite a labor of love you have going on there! I've enjoyed seeing the pics you posted on the progress.

I was thinking George might have posted the pics from this thread...

Bad enough the car made it to the Cars in Barns website! :Dou:

Your car is gonna be a beauty when it's done. I really like the convert limemist look you have going there. Keep up the good work! :TU:

Ken, sometimes you just do what you've got to do. Actually I thought this might be the last one with matching numbers of the 18 GS455s, but within the last few months I got put in touch with somebody in Alabama with another one! His father had a dealership and got it on a trade in, kept it, and now the son has it. Still all original (no restoration). Believe it or not it's also lime mist, but with white interior and top. So I know of two of eighteen 71 GS455 4spd Converts (both lime mist) that are still in existence. Although mine's on the operating table for cancer treatment. Anybody know of others (or any of the nine Stage1s) with numbers still in tact?

Save the whales, and save the buicks.

I'm with you. :TU: They just don't make 'em anymore, so we gotta save what's left.

I'm not sure I even want to see pics of a wrecked GSX sitting in a field! :ball:

    Ken,
If that "totalled" GSX has a decent rear clip. Maybe the car can be saved.
Remember, yesterday's parts car is tomorrow's project car especially with rare, old musclecars. Once we can see some pics, we will have a better idea. :TU:

    ChinaMike,
I see you have a new avatar! Wow, amazing the car looked that good and got so bad! When you car was for sale, someone emailed me pics of it from that show and confirmed it was the same car. He told me after he went to look at it, he could not believe his eyes!

It's because of this thread I switched AVs. The show was somewhere around 1988, and former pres of the GS Club in Ill (now defunct I think) sent me several pics after I bought it. Great guy.

Nitty gritty truth be known, Alan Faircloth posted an email to your site before V8 board existed about this 71GS455 4spd car for sale near Chicago. So I called the guy. He said he had people beating on him to sell but I was the only one who expressed an intent to restore rather than to part it out for the drive train. So here I am. Thanks to Alan and you for making it possible.

Incidentally, where is Alan? He was so active on your board but never showed up here. Several people like that. There was also the Tampa radio guy who got so put out that he wasn't on the V8/BPG leadership list that he sold his Buick. Am trying to remember his name... Sorry to change the subject.

Just got an email from Alan yesterday. All is well. He basically has little free time with a new house, new baby and restoring a 67 Riv GS. He is still around but keeping a low profile.

As for the Tampa radio guy, I have no idea who that may be.

Have a few of these :beer and see if you can remember his name.
