All right, Mike, here are some measurements. They are as close as I could come with the accessories still in place on the engines. These do include the exhaust manifolds.

    :Smarty:
    Buick 350 = 26"
    Buick 310 = 21.5"
    Buick 455 = 27.5"
    ...and just for comparison,
    Chevy 350 = 24"

Regarding my comment about my s-10, I'm sure that the Chevy V-6 is the same width as the 350. So the 310, being smaller, should fit with no problem. :beers2:
    ...heh, heh,heh :Brow: .

I hope this info has helped you as much as your idea has influenced me. :TU:

thanks again jeff,...i've been tossing the idea of a buick engine for my toyota for the lonest time...just didnt want to be dissapointed with a v6 and fond out a sbb350 was too wide ...imagine a 340 would also be 2 wide

so 300 seems to be the perfect choice..

    v8 power
    low weight (400-405lbs)
i'll make a build thread of the toyota project
i may also look into the GN serpentine setup to save some more space in the engine bay and perhaps dual efans

Mike, with the right piston choice you could throw a 340/350 crank in that 300 and get those extra inches back. There's enough extra compression height in the Buick pistons to more than offset the increase in stroke, heck you might even be able to use the 350 rods. (Then just imagine what it'd do with the TA heads!)

Is there a sticky on the little 300?

I will be squiring one soon and want to know all the possibilities.

    Thanks.

ebay or D&D maybe? There are lots of small shops as well that a google search might bring up.

Sorry to jack thread-but "it" won't let start new post? How bout aligning our "buying power" with British V8 forum folks? Specifically billet roller cams for 215-350 sbb's? Use sbc. hyd/mech. lifters. The oem. hyd. "mite" drop-in without bleed-off problems, roller is well recessed. Combined enthusiast, we could order say 10-50 round-lobe blanks, with/with-out stepped bearing journals? There are "gads" of profiles made for these lifters. What say? roverman.:TU:

    Just curious...what are the 64' 300's worth?

I'm getting ready to pull one out of my Lark to make room for a Turbo 6.

The 300 is currently not running and has sat in the Cali desert for about 20 years. The odo reads ~70K.

    :Do No:

    Guys, Just checked a '66 300 and 340..... I measured:
300: 19.5" between exhaust flanges on heads.
340: 20.5" between exhaust flanges on heads.
Exhaust manifolds add add about 2.5" to each side.

Engines are out of cars. I'd say flange-flange measurements are accurate to 1/4", possibly 1/2" at the very most.:TU:
