hey, just wondering if the width of a buick 300 is narrower then a chevy 350 I do recall the one i had looking smaller then my buick 350 but it was also in a 64 lesabre so, i could have deceived myself abit if anyone that has a 300 with headers or manifold, would you mind measuring exhaust man/header to man/header....thanks
mike, I'll see if I can get some measurements today... Seeing as how the V6 rods are the same, know what would be really cool? A 300 bored .050 over to stock V6 bore size, some diamond V6 pistons, quality afermarket v6 rods (or stock, which are running in 9sec GN's), TA heads, AAANNNNDDDDD maybe some boost  :3gears: wes
ll yea, i'm just going to get one of these for 100 my shoot him down for 75 and drop it in my toyota when the chevy 4.3 croaks...buick 350 is too wide and interfers with the steering rod setup
yea, aslong as it isnt too wide and interfer with the steering rod setup a chevy 350 just clears...buick 350 wont so 300 has to be no wider then a chevy 350
okay, these are approximate... fudged to the large side of things flange to flange 20.5"... outside of manifold to outside of manifold- 26" same deck height and exhaust arrangement as a 3.8 V6 I had a 3.8 in my '79 toyota 4x4 with no clearence issues whatsoever wes
awsome so that means the exhaust manifolds shouldnt interfer with the steering shaft! buick 350 you'd have to somehow fab an offset steeringshaft and possibly notch inner fender for everything to clear as its about an inch wider then a chevy 350 too bad i already have 4.88s installed to suite the 4.3 chevy v6...but the 700r4 should make it do-able :beer so a buick 300 is about 2.5 inches skinnier then a buick 350 and 1.5 inches smaller then a chevy 350 and the 64 300 is only 400lbs! yea, i wish i could have bought that 79 off you
i think when i measure my buick 350 furthest partt of the outside ot the manifolds it measured 26.5 i believe so if you indeed left a small extra cusion in youre measurements then it should easily fit actually looked at an older post i made ive gotten 24inches from outside of manifold to manifold
AND the distributor is in the right place! DOO IT DOOO IT I wish I could have kept the 'yotaou: it'd have had a 300 in it now
i'm going to try, if not at this very moment, it'll definatly go in after the 4.3 sh!ts it's self 4.3 is already at the shop.. gue'ss ill see if he has the 4.3 in it yet or not to determine if it'll get the v8 now rather then later if he already has it in i'll just switch it out when i go with an ultimate dual crawl box
you definatly should be right about the width...the 300 is the same as a buick 225 but with 2 extra cylinders so width should be the same
All right, guys. Now I'm gettin' bad ideas about putting my SBB (350) in my '65 wagon and the 300 (from the wagon) into the s-10 I'm messing with. ou: I'm going to have to tell my wife it's your fault. SHEESH ! ! You guys just can't leave anthing alone. o No: (Wife was reading over my shoulder...thanks for the ideas. )
haha, sorry man i think im going to buy that 64 300 and hope it fits...if it doesnt i'll give it to my uncle to put in his 79 camaro
so, just for a 2nd source does anyone have a buick 300 along with a chevy 350 to measure outside of exhaust to exhaust to compare? hey jeff same measurements for youre 300 vs youre 350 will work too!
heres a buick 225 v6 in an 84 toyota... so as the 225 has the same stroke, rod length and deck height i should have enough room on the sides to clear..i'll just have 2 extra cylinders. and an extras log on the manifolds.. so then lenghth should be the only concern if theres enough room to run a clutch fan or if i'll have to go with an efan booya lol
