    alec296 i need another buick

are you sure the white wire goes back to your brake lights?
if they are then it would seem to be the wiring to the lighting if you bypassed
    the switch with a jumper

well maybe it doesn't go straight back to the lights, i probably am mistaken the orange had power though. the white may go up through the turn signal switch...

maybe some one can verify this? and if this is the case, then there is a problem with the turn signal switch then correct?

I don't see the year and model vehicle you are dealing with.
But , normally the power goes from the fuse panel to the flasher unit and the brake switch separately. Then each goes to the turn signal switch via their own wire, there the position of the turn signal switch determines which lamps light .
There should be a connecter at the steering column that everything comes together at . A simple test light will help find power points .
Check for pwr at that conection when brake is applied . Power at that point ? Most likely canidate is the turn signal switch.

    Enjoy

thanks. i have a 1967 buick lesabre. I unhooked the brake switch and there is power coming through. The switch itself also tested out ok. So im assuming it is the switch.

I did a little research and found that GM used two kinds of switches. One made of all plastic by some company with a B in thier name, cant remember who. And the second was the AC delco version with metal parts in the cancelling cam. I happen to have the all plastic version that is known for having problems, put in by an electrical mechaninc (great...). I have since ordered the AC Delco version, im praying this will fix my issue once and for all.
