I found this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1971...iewItem&pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item1c143616d4 as soon as I saw it and where it was I knew it was a clone. I don't think Brad would ever sell the one of one 71 Black and Gold GSX. tim
Sharp car but for those $$ I'm not too impressed with the rear trunk lid fit, RH side, right at the bumper.
Ain't mine!! Looks like '72 headlight doors, too. Come see the REAL one at the BPG Nationals this next week!!! :Smarty:
" No expense has been spared... This vehicle has factory air, but it is not working," Am I the only one finding humor in this description? Neat car though.:3gears:
For the price it should work too. Brad, I knew that is wasn't your as I seriously doubt you would ever sell either of your GSXs. Looks like a 72 hood trim also Tim
As of now there are 6 bidders I wonder if they know what they are looking at. I wish you could contast them to let them know. I think it is worth maybe 20K at the most. Tim
Noticed that too. Seems like an awful lot of rake compared to a "factory" set-up. Must have a lot of air in those shocks . . .
Not in the title, but in the description, if you READ it: '71 Buick GSX TRIBUTE... I'm just glad I didn't listen to all the guys who tried to discourage me from bidding on the Ebay auction, when I bought the (reproduction) Prototype GS-X door panel emblems, that everyone claimed didn't exist, and was only a scam...:beers2: I received 4 sets of them, from the seller, who actually makes nearly ALL reproduction emblems that you see in every catalog (Year One/OPG/etc.)... :bla:
Yea we are way to critical on our cars. Who cares if there are some things wrond with the car? Mine isn't going to be perfect but its not going what do I care? I dont want a show car. Concourse restoration cars are the only cars we should critsize (sp?) what is wrong with them.
I think 33K is realistic for a show car CLONE. If a concourse restored 70 Stage1 4 speed is only bringing 70K-80K (Jeff Horsman's car for example), then the price range for a concourse restored clone should be significantly less since it is just a tribute car. Now why would anyone sink a boat load of money into a car that they will only get a third of the price spent on the restoration is beyond me but If i buy a tribute car for 33K it better be a show car. Louie
Agree with you on the reasoning but you can't build a show car-any show car- for 33k unless you do all the work yourself (engine/driveline/chassis/paint/trim etc). Not with any kind of quality (I guess it depends how a person defines show car as well).
I agree. Thankfully me and my dad can do all the work by ourselves (maybe not building a motor, but you get the point) so the hobby is a little cheaper for us,
Really? A former member here had a '71 Skylark built, with a 400+hp Buick 350 (everything on the engine was powdercoated, interior was nicely redone, paint & body was immaculate from a body shop in Chicago), and he did nothing, himself! A few of his buddies (Chevy guys, no less) offered to help him with whatever car he chose, just so he could be included in their car club. The whole time, they tried to convince him to get a '70 Chevelle, or '69 Camaro, but he liked the Skylark body style better, because it was different, so he stuck with it. Since I supplied him with many of the parts he was looking for here (when no one else even offered to help him FIND what parts he needed), he offered the car to me, for only $17,000 ($20,000+ to anyone else who was interested:bla: )! I passed on it, because I already had 6 other '70 GS's, at the time, and didn't want/need a '71 Skylark, regardless of condition. As soon as the car was finished, recently, it won the Best of Show at the World of Wheels in Chicago, 2 or 3 years, in a row, beating out other cars that had over $100,000 into them, for the Quality of the work, and the attention to detail!:bla: :bglasses: I have pictures of the car & engine, before it was finished...
So who did the work then and when was the car built? I'm talking todays world. Quality of all the cars has increased amazingly in the last few years, a show winner (and again it comes down to the show and what they are looking for-world of wheels is notorious for awarding their buddies the trophies-) even 5 years ago would be non competitive today. I stand by my comments, if you are going to do most of the work yourself (or with buddies) fine fine but otherwise not a chance. Which brings us back to the original intent of my first comment. Nobody should be criticizing anyone else's car until they have built, or tried to build one to the same level. Its annoying already, and it turns people off. Buick guys for some reason are especially bad for that, and it doesn't help us out much in the end.
