So, This has been broken for a long while and i don't really know how to fix it.. But i need to take my date to prom in my car haha. She loves it..

So, my trouble is that my blinkers do not work, and my amber lights turn on whenever i apply my breaks. Amber lights not so important but i figured it will have something to do with the blinkers..

So, I have replaced the pull switch for the lights, and the "flasher" (little round thing that plugs into a wire). But they still don't work.. Im assuming it may just be being shorted out somewhere? But i have no idea where it could be.

All my fuses are fine. But, I don't have a dome light...??? lol.. dad broke the original one and haven't really looked for a new one.

    So my question is..

What do you think my problem is?
Where do you think the grounds would most likely be?

EDIT: Dash lights are also out?.. replaced all the lights in the dash.. but nothing..

eh, I'm don't know very much re: electrical.
I think you're on the right track; looking for a ground problem. Sorry, I don't know where, to tell you; to, look for it.

But, for the dash lights; Check to be sure, your taillights are working. If, not; check the fuse. The taillights and dash lights; share, the same fuse.

Remove the lenses and check each bulb....also check the front turn signal lights...you may have bad filaments and/or sockets.

The taillights work fine, but there is one bad bulb in it.. I just haven't had the time to replace it..

For the dash lights, i replaced the ones with bad filiments when i check them.

I will check my blinkers for filiments.. But i don't see why that would be the problem because they luminate when i apply the breaks.

The dash lights could be a fuse, have you checked all?
These things come to mind for me...
My first thought is,the four way flasher button is pushed in and the flasher for the four ways is not working. When the brakes are applied, the turn signal/parking lights will come on.
Second is one of the bulbs is installed wrong. It can be installed wrong if not careful and when they are,the lights will do all kinds of strange things.

I'd check the blinker again. I'm pretty sure mine did the same thing. My dash indicators also came on when I hit the brakes. As I borrowed the blinker to fix my truck and forgot it was removed from the Buick. You should find two of those little cans for blinkers. One for your hazards and one for your turn signals. Maybe switch them and see if the problem changes.

Where would the second one be? I can see the first one under the dash on the drivers side..

EDIT: Im at school, so i can't check anything really. I will try at lunch though.

    same area,

I think one is in the fuse block. The other hangs loose. The plug looks similar to a headlight one.

Checked all my fuses, they look fine.
Checked the bulbs at the amber lights / blinkers and they look fine
Switched the old flasher and new flasher out and they didn't change anything.
Found where the hazard canister thing should be, and there isn't one there? could that be the culprit? Does it have to be one for a hazards or can it be the flasher?
My hazards obv. don't turn on.

As I always say (just to be on the record in case it is this) it may be the turn signal switch (not the stalk). Everything except the headlights goes through the little bugger, and it can vex you if you overlook it.
It's located on the steering column under the dash.

One of your brake light lamps, the lead terminals on the lamp itself, they got mashed down or hot one time and are touching eachother, shorted together, pull each lamp out of socket and look at bottom terminals. Get a knife and cut apart or get new lamps (that are a dang rip off now at 5 bucks a2 pack!)
Mine did this to me 2 weeks ago

You can do it from under the dash. You will be upside down. I have a notion you are young and limber though...

Again, that turn signal switch should be the last thing you suspect.

Ha yeah im younger.. 18. I have no problem with being upside down. I'll check it anyways.

    EDIT:

The turn signal switch wasn't the problem. Im sure its the hazards thing, but i don't have one to plug into the car so i can't really test it. And i don't have to money to go buy one right now.. Lent all my money to my mom haha
