Actually i remembered the answer is in the redrivs 40th download - with pictures and more Buick experimental engines. Before it was replaced in 1967. the original 322-inch V8 grew to 425 cubic inches. The first 425 was built for the '63 cars, and an 1964 a turbocharging experiment was conducted on a 425. with the resultant torque output being an unreal 708 Ibs-ft. at a 2600-rpm speed.
confirm switch pitch TH400 was 65 -67, but only 65,66 only had <!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <woNotOptimizeForBrowser/> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]-->an anti creep feature. the original place I pulled that from was written as above. but I know your right about there not being one in 64 - have no idea about that anti creep. I've added the hp to 53 320
Great writing, Rob! One other thing to check; The crest for 1937 was the single shield crest. The trishield came along 1959 or, so ;
Thought you guys would be interested in this ad my Buick friend sent me: http://www.flickr.com/photos/autohistorian/5017077690/lightbox/ Also, wasn't Buick the pace car for 1939 and not 1938?
Buick pace car for; 1939 is correct; http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=12430.0 1938 Hudson 112 1939 Buick Roadmaster Series 80
Buick paced Indy two years in a row- 1975 and 1976. Until 1998, the only other car to pace Indy two years in a row was the Stoddard Dayton in 1913 and 1914
great picture find the indy site i found shows a black one with lettering - probably a parade car and states the actual pace car was white.

If you haven't noticed I'm lucky if i type all the words - my fingers go faster than my brain. I was more interested in racing my GTO at lunch than paying attention in English class. The way you explain it's/its makes sense to me - I'll have to check if its what I typed.
