I must have got a small tornado then with all the snapped off trees on my property. Live ones up rooted , broke or snapped and the dead ones are still standing. Stuff I was hoping to blow away didnt and stuff i hoped wouldnt get damaged did.

Anybody hear from Wheelz in Tampa Bay?
Tampa Bay was, for a time, expected to be a direct hit. But I think they got a break as the path veered off it's expected course. He said he was about 5 ft above sea level...

Just got electric a couple minutes ago!!!!! I was sitting outside listening to the noisey generator when the neighbor came over and said she had electric. Had to reconnect the house to FP&L and sure enough we had electric. Yeah!!!! So tired of listening to generators. My house is fine, cars are fine, my yard was a mess. I spent 3 days cleaning up. I've learned, the person with the most trees loses! I love shade. My son, neighbor, and I played outside the entire storm on the leeward side of the house. The gusts of wind were amazing! Sure am glad it is over, or is it?

Where I am in Sarasota our power is still out since 2:00PM Saturday. We are on an 80 home grid and being told we will have power back on the 22nd. We are also on a well so no power equals no water. I do have a 7K generator to run the Ice box, TV, and a portable AC unit so it could be worse. About 8 gallons of fuel a day. No downed trees in my yard but the neighborhood looks like a war zone.

Anyone seen Maria? She looks to be on the same path as Irma. I'm getting tired of these witches messing with my life. On a funny note, kind of.... My buddy Jack had downed electric lines in his backyard. He called it in. The neighbor next door called it in. The neighbor behind him called it in. They noticed electricity slowly coming back throughout the neighborhood. They were afraid FP&L was going to energize the line. A local cop was driving by and they stopped him. He called it in. Next morning Jack had electric. He didn't understand how, but sure was happy. A little while later he hears fire truck sirens wailing down his street coming towards his house. They drove right into his backyard, it's a BIG backyard, and foamed the trees and downed electric line that was on fire!!! Jack lost his electric again. In one day he went from happy to sad. Back to the generator..................

Some model project Maria recurving into the Atlantic but keep a watchful eye. Before it does they show some Lesser Antilles islands getting struck again.

Beware of the Fujiwhara effect from the interaction of Jose with Maria.

Hey Guys, my wife 'BAILED' saturday morning to family in Colorado. I was scheduled to fly out to meet up with her on wednesday, however, All Florida flights were cancelled by the time wednesday came around. Irma blew into our area and by 9pm sunday night, power and internet was blow'n round somewhere over Georgia. LOL. I rode it out and will definitely REconsider staying here for a cat 2, let alone a cat 3 or 4 it was posta be. Power came back on thursday evening at 7:40, I had REscheduled to fly out friday morning. Colorado was gorgeous with 55 degree nights, 12% humididty. 78-82 during the day with 20% humidity. I was standing with people in line at local grocery store in Lakewood, they were ranting/complaining about the heat. ya. that. They would N E V E R survive in Florida! I managed to hookup with kenny464 for a nice chat. He lives only a few minutes from Green Mountain area my Bro-in-law lives. Anyway, Wife and I flied back late wednesday and joined in the neighborhood clean up process thursday.. .. friday.. .. managed to help neighbors cut trees from their driveways, cleared out damaged sheds, removed HUGE branches from pools with busted out screens and mashed grilles... Ya, IRMA for certain left her mark.
Other'n the fact that there is so much to be done, we were blessed and all is well today.
THANK YOU ALL for your concern! You guys are the BEST.

This storm has me seriously wondering if I will ever move the 67 to Florida.

Dont worry about it. Been here going on 30 years. Seem many storms come and go. Never had any major damage.

If I bring it down, I will probably try to find something more inland for storage, I’m only a mile from the Gulf. I am also on a Bay that is tidal fed.

I've been in Florida since the late 1950s. Been through a few hurricanes, the latest was Charlie in 2004 when we had about $35,000 in damage and this last one, Irma took a few shingles off our roof.

My advice is to just keep good insurance on your home with a low hurricane deductible, have a backup generator ready to go, and shutters for your windows. As far as your cars are concerned, get them to an enclosed storage facility well before the storm hits. With good preparation and a solid home, one can deal with the very occasional hurricane with minimal inconvenience to your lifestyle.

And don't live in an older frame home. It should be block or brick and built to the latest hurricane codes. And, it goes without saying not to live in a mobile or manufactured home. They are killers in a bad wind storm.
