Max Damage I'm working on it!

This thread made my 8 YO battery die.

Anyhow, I can report that a group 24 AGM battery (Interstate branded and dated 2/24) was $240.00 with a core.

Liked your post, not because it died but because 8yrs is a great run for any battery :D

It's a pretty mild climate here, so not a lot of heat, and not extreme cold either. Battery was still cranking hard a month ago. I suspect that the key was removed from the ignition without being turned all the way counterclockwise (off).

    BUQUICK I'm your huckleberry.

Longest lasting battery I've ever had was the DEKA group 24 battery I removed from my '67 last year. I bought it in the Fall of 2008, which means I got almost 15 years from it! There is a DEKA battery store near my house so I might try another one.

Last week I was at Costco and looked at the batteries they offer. The standard lead acid batteries ($120) are all black (no green top with white sides) and the AGM batteries ($183) were black top with gray sides.

The regular lead acid batteries being all black instead of green and white, which makes me agree with Jim W that these batteries are being made by another battery company and labeled as Interstate. The lead acid battery does not have a flat top so a battery topper will not work.

Do you go group 24 or 34? Seems w/ the non-AGM batteries the 34 has more CCA, about 50 more, I think.

Exide? Interesting. I had always heard Wally bats were made by Johnson Controls, the largest bat maker in the country, I'm pretty sure.

Johnson controls sold their battery business in 2018 to an outfit called "Brookfield" for 13B. No idea who Brookfield is.

I have run both in my cars (34 and 24) and currently am using Group 24's . They seem to have plenty of cranking power.
