Absorbed Glass Matt batteries have a lot less venting. Not sure if they awe 100% sealed.

All three offer sealed top batteries with top posts spaced right for the R59 topper.

    Yes.

Which batteries are the AGM/sealed ones?

It should say "AGM" or absorbed glass matt, also the price will be higher (at least $200).

Looking around I see there are a LOT of them now with both the old style top post and side post sticking out the top, which is a problem for toppers, I suppose. NAPA has them, as does Costco, and pretty much any other vendor.

They were originally developed for hybrid cars which start and stop a lot more than normal cars.

I purchased a group 24 Costco/interstate battery. The issue is there is no lip or cut out for The factory battery hold down. Those of you have purchased A interstate battery have you run into that issue?

No, the Group 34 I bought had the lip for the stock hold down. I had no problem bolting it down.

I bought my battery nearly 2 years ago. Hopefully things haven't changed.

    Larry,

Got to looking at your Interstate battery you pictured.. looked really familiar, especially the 2/22 round sticker on it..

    So I checked into it..

Turns 0ut they are manufactured by Exide, which also makes some of the Walmart Everstart line..

And why it looks exactly the same... I would bet anyone it's the exact same battery, with different stickers on it.

Nothing surprises me anymore Jim:D Doesn't Johnson Controls make most car batteries? Everyone just puts their name on it?

The Johnson Controls battery plant here in Tampa used to make the Exide and some Interstate batteries. I haven't been there in a long time, so I'm not sure if they are still making those batteries there or not.

The Interstate batteries that I am still getting are still white sides with green top. I just got another one in December. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. Sounds like they are offering B-stock,like plenty of other manufacturers.

From their website, it appears these days that only the AGM battery they offer is the traditional white case with the green top. That of course would be something very different.

    https://www.interstatebatteries.com/

It appears that they offer a variety of different batteries currently. Interstate never has been a battery manufacturer, but just a marketing and distribution outfit and for a long time they were made by Johnson Controls.. These days they are made by several different manufacturers.

Johnsons Controls sold it's battery manufacturing division to a holding company in 2018.. that company renamed it Clarios, and they continue to produce batteries for many brands, including Interstate.

Jim is right about the stickers and similar batteries... About 2 years ago an 18 wheeler got into an accident just above my house. The truck was destroyed as well as the back of the trailer. The towing company owners are friends of our and left us know the trucks contents were going to just be junked. It was cheaper for them as they contents wee from Florida and the cost of the cleanup and plus picking the good items up was not cost efficient. Dustin, bought 9 pallets of assorted sized batteries that were still unharmed. We were selling nice batteries big (cca tc),group batteries for $50-$75 depending on their size. It was more about weight than size to us though. Many were unstickered, but some were. Funny thing was on one pallet there was an envelope with Everstart, Diehard, Advance Auto and Auto Zone to be applied when delivered. That made us think a bit..
