So I guess the consensus opinion is that this car should be dumped in the ocean to be a platform to cultivate marine life ? Like they do with uneeded and outdated navy ships ?

The wrong oil cap? The incorrect sheen on the inner fender? Missing T-Clips?!?!?!?! OMG!!! What's next, the wrong vintage air in the tires?

Who on earth would be caught dead in something that isn't restored to a 400pt concourse car?!?! Not me, that's for sure.

Sad to say, but every now and then there is a car that is just too far gone. This one might as well be parted out or sent to the crusher. Sorry folks, just my honest opinion.

You're spot on in your assessment of the gist of this thread. No one is saying this isn't a nice car, just that it is being misrepresented.

You're missing the point. Absent full disclosure from the seller or when a vehicle is not what it's represented as, should we not point it out? Caveat emptor? If I were interested in this car, I'd want to know everything possible about it. If nothing else, it helps the potential buyer establish the credibility, or in this case, the lack there of, of the seller. A key point.

I'm not missing the point... I was being facetious about the nit-picking of the tiniest details that are easy to correct (if one chooses). The seller isn't claiming it to be concourse quality, but we are judging it here at V8 as if it is... and just because it's not 'concourse' with correct clips etc, doesn't mean it's not a nicely 'restored' car. The only mis-representation seems to be that the hood is not original.

My comments were intended in good fun; everyone (myself included) has great respect for the knowledge of Buicks in this forum.

    Cheers

my two cents...I am fascinated by the level of knowledge of the people on here. I flat out would not have caught 30% of that stuff, as a potential buyer I would want to know, furthermore: maybe i should post detailed pics of my car but i would hate to have my bubble busted.

Ryans-GSX Have fun, life is short.

NO the hood is not the only thing mis-represented in his ad! Jeff you seem like a bright person go back and read his ad and then reread this post and see for yourself what all is mis-represented.

Richard (richopp) I agree with Donny. You are spot on and well said.

Buickfan most everyone here probably has had or has a car that is not correct. if you post pics people will tell you what is wrong about your car so you can fix these things and bring it back to its original glory. Some here dont care to have a original car they just love there buicks and thats that.:TU: good for them. :beer Point is everyone pics the cars apart to teach each other more and more about the cars. One thing bad about this is I cant look at a buick anymore without "nit picking" it apart  this is why they say ignorance is bliss

is it a real stage car?
if its not restored, what is it?
looks like a nice car to have fun with. not everyone can buy every NOS part or wait n shop for years for the correct clip.
Is it nice, yup. Some people don't know the history of said vehicles and believe what they are told from previous owners. looks nice to me tho. same color outside as my 350 car. both, no longer having vinyl tops.

    Jeff:

If a Seller puts a car up for sale and advertises it to the public - on the web no less in the widest possible public forum - it is fair game to comment on it and critique it. This is Buick board ... and is, frankly, where you will find an entire spectrum of Buick people - from Newbies to the very highest Buick knowledge-base in the world. I think you should look at the spirit of the critiques and comments. They are not mean-spirited. If you were considering buying a car, would you like to have all the info about it? I think so. And, there are vast numbers of members of this board who have, are and will continue to purchase - or more importantly, consider purchasing - cars like just this from across the country and rely upon this very web site to learn about the cars remotely before pursuing them more seriously, etc. So, there is nothing nasty meant toward the Seller. In fact, there is inherently a grading or valuation process to evaluating these cars that are offered publically for sale for quality, prior history (accidents, repairs, originality, etc.) and overall market conditions. Sharing information and the valuation process is VERY important - do not underestimate its importance to the collective and individual learning curves. For example, if I told you that concourse, as you stated earlier, is found at an airport and has nothing to do with judging cars, rather, concours is what I think you intended. Was that mean-spirited? Or, is it just a sharing information intended to advance the learning curve? Is the glass half-full or half-empty? I vote for more knowledge being better than less and that an ever-advancing knowledge-base and learning curve is a great thing - for all. I think these comments and critiques really equate to a very effective inspection and appraisal service for prospective Buick buyers & enthusiasts.

Waite a minute.Go back and read the sellers description. If he's not leading you to believe this is a concourse restored car i'll kiss your a$$ at the BPG event and you can sell tickets to make sure there's a crowd. It's a very deceiving ad and whats wrong with pointing it out.

oooooo......oooooo.....oooooo...I got one. Tire inflation sticker does not belong on the driver door - but on the glove box door. Looks like the car ran over a can of semi gloss black out on the freeway

Yes - this car should not be advertised as the Homecoming Queen; more likely as the Math Club President.

Let me jump in here and say that this car sat at my shop outside from 1996 to when it sold in around 2004 or 05. this car has a correct 70 year block but the original block got windowed in the late 80's, It is an original stage one car with original 14" wheels, brown vinyl roof, PW, PDS, AC, 10 bolt posi. I notice it still has the stinger ignition on it. It also had MT Headers when it left Odessa. It belonged to a friend of mine. He also sold a Cortez Gold 71 GSX to someone in CA. I'm glad to see the car has been brought back to driving condition. My blue car was an exact color copy GS 350 auto, brown interior, brown roof, bamboo cream, 15" wheels. This Stage 1 had brown painted on its sides, hood, and trunk lid, started to rust around rear window, but still a solid car. I think it sold for $8000, I wish I had bought it, but it needed every thing done.

The car has really shot up today on price, up well over 5K from what it was this morning, and still has a day to go.

And the seller still hasn't "corrected" his description despite receiving an email from me and I'm sure several other members of the Buick community. At this point, the only conclusion one can draw is that he's being willfully deceptive and can't honestly claim ignorance for the misrepresentations. In short, another shyster.
