Nice car but lots of incorrect parts and paint detail. Originally vinyl roof car, '71-'72 hood, '71 fan shroud, flat lenses, missing overflow tank and A arm seals, wrong oil cap, master cylinder, four row rad, etc. Seller appears to be a dealer out of MA and car is in FL. Claims it has the "original 12 bolt rear" and "100% original body panels" Guess he doesn't consider the hood a body panel. Probably never seen the car. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Buic...c0.m245&_trkparms=72:1205|65:12|39:1|240:1308
I'm still trying to find the pic of the Black bucket interior. Oh yeah did I tell you this is a killer car.
Donny1973 How can you tell the hood is from a 71 - 72? I thoght they were all the same. Is it the front hood trim/scoops? I never knew there was a difference. Mike NJ Iggycat
What did it for me was the high gloss inner fenders and the rusty old rear shocks and suspension. For a so-called resto, they forgot to remove and replace a few things. No wonder the bidding is under $2K at the moment.
I'm no A-Body expert, but aside from what has been pointed out, that car just doesn't look right. Is it the 14" wheels? uzzled:
I am constantly impressed by you guys, some of you have an incredible eye when it comes to these cars. I would look at it & say wow, nice car but you guys are like hawks! I see it as a great service to the community when you point out these items, I think it helps to keep pricing honest.
Yes. And the A/C box should be natural fiberglass, not painted black. What about that plastic vacuum can on the firewall? I don't recall ever seeing a round one on a '70-'72 A body. Can't quite make out the build date on the cowl tag, but if it's an early build, the radiator cover should be plastic.
The build date is 04B. Flat lenses and the metal rad top would be correct. I don't think it is a 4 core , not wide enough tanks. It is however a 72 rad with the slanted tank at the cap.
This car was at the charlotte NC autofair and I saw the car up close. overall I think if you want something to drive and have fun with.......its ok.....but to say it has been "Restored" I think NOT!!! its a 15k car at best and the seller wanted 24.5k at the show....haha..... The seller has NO CLUE about the car. I cant stand it when dealers pull all kinds of BULL SH*T out there a$$ like all orig sheetmetal, ect ect ect without doing any homework on the car they just say anything they want. I know I pointed out things......nicely as to not piss off the seller....one thing I told him was the car had been wrecked at one time as the hood was wrong but he did not pay one bit of attention to me...all he cares about it the sell.....FU*K the buyer. BUYER BEWARE.......do your homework on any car you look at.
What is the clue to the original vinyl roof (now missing on this car)? Do you see the mirror quality sheen on those inner front fender liners? Whoa! This is the color of my '70 GS ... Bamboo cream, but with dark brown roof and Dark Saddle interior. I have never gone back and forth so much on a color of a car in my life.
The data plate.. Under PNT the code is 50 F. 50 is Bambo Cream...F is the color of the vinyl top. Lots and lots of incorrect parts and finishes. Don't enter it in concours or Duane and I will kill it  . Nice driver though....
Vacuum tank is 78-87 G-body version. Car is also missing the cowl seal w/proper T-clips. Carpeting job is wrong...you are supposed to cut flaps over the pedestal mounts to hide anchor points. PS cap is wrong. Timing cover has a through-bolt to hold "blue" fuel hose??? Rear trunk ground wires on "catch" change from 2 wires to one wire.....only supposed to be one wire. Holes in trunk upright....from a trunk mounted battery or electric fuel pump??? Looks like a "quickie" cosmetic resto...and not much more.
