An installed shot. This is 99% easier with the headers out and is a good upgrade to do before dropping in a new 455. Otherwise you'll have to knock the studs out and try to refit. Notice that I cut 3 threads off the rear stud to help it fit against the headers. Note that the rear bushing needs a heat shield sinbce it will sit REALLY close to the headers.

...and here it is all in. As mentioned in the GN T Type article (check the FAQ for a link) on this conversion you're going to have a slightly pushed out front. Adjusting the camber and caster take a bit more fine tuning.

    So what's the net result?

Well comparing the car below to my unmodified 1978 Wagon it's night and day. In terms of "feel" the major benefits are:

    1. You don't have to stand ont he brakes at a light to hold back the 455 anymore.
    2. The car will no longer understeer when taking a corner.
    3. Steering feels much more stable during a launch.
    4. During a corner it feel rougher, the wheel jerks on every little bump as you turn.
    5. the overall ride is a little rougher.

By the numbers this mod takes me well into the .90's on a skidpad. I've got alor of work into the rear as well tuning and re-tuning so take that witha grain of salt. The dive on the car is now just over 1/4" compared to 1" stock. The weight distribution is unchanged of course. This is Robert Adams kit, with some Global West arms, wellworth the investment in my opinion!

    Hope that helps!

If you're willing to hang a 90* corner at the end of Race City :TU: :Brow:

I'm taking next week off, mind if I drop by and pick up some carb parts/drool on the Buicks?
