Your logical limits will be laughed at by every felon, crook, & gang member.
They will always have illegal weapons of all sorts to carry out their dirty deeds....guaranteed.

Also-a lot of anti gun folks like to say ‘the founders never imagined an AR-15’ or other modern technology and say we should have single shot rifles and muskets. To that I say, the founders never imagined the radio, television, copy machine or internet, so one’s First Amendment rights should be limited to a hand operated printing press, quill pen, and shouting from the top of a crate!

You are wrong. Brazil has the highest gun death rate in the world.

Also, if we would quite make criminal protection zones (also known as gun free zones) then criminals would have greater fear of being killed.

If you live in a Class III state you can own fully automatic firearms. Just pass the background check and pay the $200 transfer fee. I have lots of friends with fully automatic firearms, legally.

Some major decisions have been made recently based on the "founders never envisioned that" argument, FYI.

So, as I am reading some of the anti gun people's replies, Last weekend a Nascar driver was stabbed in the chest while at a gas station.Does that mean that all knives should be banned? We can have butcher knives, table knives, pocket knives and butter knives made illegal to own. You have to really put your thinking caps on and actually think about it. If people want to kill, they will find a way! The problem in our society is not guns as it's more about legally prescribed meds that are too freely handed out ( as well as people knowing many of these people with issues) are never reported. Too many times I see people on TV saying that these people that are mass shooters had several issues beforehand, but fail to report them..

I'll add two cents to this thread. Back when i was in school a local guy shot and killed a guy who was robbing a convenience store. He was a customer and pulled his gun and chased the robber out of the store firing the whole time. The news got a copy of the surveillance video and showed it. This was the late 90s and was somewhat controversial at the time. Anyway the old man chased the guy out of the store and was shooting the whole time. What stood out to me was the old man clearly wasn't aiming closely nor did he have any regard for who or what was on the other side of the door. He was just unloading his clip. Had anyone else been out there they almost surely would have been hit by friendly fire. He also shot the guy in the back. Granted this is one incident but I don't think the average citizen would react safely enough to not cause another tragedy.

I am aware (FYI). It appears that the majority is interpreting the words that ARE in it instead of inserting the ones that aren’t. I may not agree with all their decisions (or more specifically their impact), but some things were, deliberately or not, left to the states and the court has to rule that way. In my opinion, that means people and politicians should work to codify things they think should be ‘settled’, not count on judges’ rulings. And they should have a constitutional lawyer guiding them because this court don’t play around.

This is the same poor logic trotted out all the time -- a guy got killed with a knife, bat, extension cord, shoe, whatever -- should we ban those? The argument makes no sense.

I am trying to remember all the mass deaths caused by stabbings, baseball bats, extension cords, shoes, etc. in this country. Maybe Big News doesn't cover them. Conspiracy!

Same poor logic as as saying that gun control doesn't work because one guy got killed with a gun in Japan. Japan has a population of 127 million, way fewer guns per capita, and 10 gun deaths a year.

Same poor logic as saying that mass shootings are due to mental illness. That implies that, since we have way more shootings in the US than almost any other country, we must have waaaaaaaay more mental illness than almost any other country.

Or maybe, just maybe, it's the guns.

A law enforcement guy in the neighborhood I have gotten to know was discussing the Breonna Taylor story at the time he was providing security for dignitaries visiting Louisville. Breonna was a young Louisville, KY woman that was shot dead in her home over a no-knock warrant. Incidentally, my daughter did a lot of reporting on this case and co-won the journalist of the year in Louisville for her coverage.

The neighborhood LEO said the average shots fired by an officer-involved shooting is 14.5. My reply was, "That's because the mag is empty." He smiled and agreed. One of the officers in the Breonna Taylor incident was fired for shooting through a neighbor's window. It was a crap show all around.

You are blowing my mind with your responses. In the end, you do realize that everyone who wants a gun to commit a crime will find one and commit it. If they want to mass murder, they will mass murder. But in your frightening world view, everyone is left defenseless from a shooter's attack or the government themselves because we shouldn't be able to have one to defend ourselves because they are too dangerous. Nobody that naive could own a Buick. :D

Our gun laws have been the same as now or stricter for over 100 years. Machine guns were legal until the 30s. Mail order guns were legal. For years there were very few age limits, few carry restrictions and almost no locking up of firearms in the home. Gun crime only began to be a problem in the late 20th century. Using your logic, guns AREN’T the problem. Something else is; and it started in the ‘60s the best I can tell (it’s difficult to find statistics before 2000. Wonder why?). Maybe those who want to find an answer, instead of forcing what they believe to be the answer on the rest of us, should start asking these questions.

The hitch ball on my truck has hurt way more people than all of my guns combined.

As a matter of fact, my guns have only hurt one person. A buddy didn't heed my warning to keep his thumb down when firing the Glock and got a slight case of slide rash.

Now, my dad on the other hand, owns a gun that was used in a suicide. It was my youngest brother's and the police returned it to his estate. My brother was intent on ending his life. He had battled demons for years prior. We thought he was coping well until I got the call. He would have killed himself one way or another. I had a nephew hang himself. Time to ban ropes, right? A cousin recently shot himself. An uncle shot himself. A close friend shot himself over 30 years ago. I don't blame the guns.

And to anyone that says a handful of guns and over 1,000 rounds of ammo is a weapons cache has never had a weekend in Kentucky target shooting.

Nope, it’s the bad people who have them. And those people will always find a way to get them.

Are you espousing confiscation? Just curious because I know someone who uses a gun to shoot Iguanas and that might be a good place to start. :p
