yea YEA PLEASE SOMEBODY CALL THE COPS.I live near I-24 and cars can sit on the side of the road for 2-3 weeks at times before they are hauled off.I can not think of a situation where a car like that would sit overnight on the interstate with the owners approval.
ok, the correct production numbers for the 1970 AAR cuda was 2,724. Still rather rare I'd say... And according to the AAR FAQ approxamatly 900 exist today
If that was one of my cars stolen out of the storage locker it would take a long time for me to know about it. So maybe it's stolen but not reported as such and NHP wouldn't do anything about it. It'd take some initiative on their part to trace it down in that case. Just a thought.
There's a mopar brotheren that has had his 70 cuda stolen from the Ohio area just acouple of days ago. members on our board thought it might have been this car, but its not. Thanks for posting it.
Anyone lose an AAR Cuda NOTNSS, did you happen to note the VIN on the dash? I may have owner contact info in the AAR Registry. Mark
Re: Anyone lose an AAR Cuda It was still there this afternoon so I call CHP who said they'd call NHP. No word on whether it's been reported stolen, etc. I gave them CA Lic. #, location and my name & number.. and volunteered to store it PERMANENTLY :stmad: but don't know if I'll hear back. If I drive by it again I'll look for the VIN and get it to you. I've only been close enough to the car to peek inside (automatic, clean interior). Don't want the owner to pull up just as I'm bent over the car. He'd probably shoot first and find out later I'm trying to be a good samaratin (sp?). It's bee there since THURSDAY, at least.
Dang, I knew I was missing something. Please pick it up and store it for me. The keys are under the seat :Brow: Feel free to enjoy it for the week and I will be up there on saturday to pick it up. Thanks Rich Seriously, I hope that the car gets back to where it belongs intact. I would hate to see a machine like that (even a mopar) be the victim of any wrongdoing.
Final Installment The Cuda was recovered this afternoon. I happened by as Roadrunner Towing (how appropriate is that? meep, meep!) was loading it, so I stopped to ask details. The kid was driving it from California to somewhere back east. Blew then engine, then hitchhiked to Salt Lake City, rented a car, and a day or two later rolled the rental. He was injured, apparently fairly severely and his dad has spent the past few days taking care of business with the son. The Cuda understandably went on the back burner. He called NHP today, who told him to call Roadrunner. The dad is paying RR $1200 to haul it back to Sacramento. And I hear the kid is 'stable' so that's good news.
Glad to hear the car was recovered intact. That is too bad about the owner. Hopefully he will make a full recovery and be able to rebuild the cuda's engine and enjoy her once again. Guy must have been in one heck of a hurry to get back east to blow the motor on a priceless car like that and leave it on the side of the road to hitchhike all the way to salt lake. Then to get two days out of salt lake before his accident. All the while his car sat on the side of the road. I don't think I could ever be so rushed that I couldn't at least call a tow truck to fetch a car like that before continuing my trip.
That's a sharp car. Kid's dad prob bought it for him and he had it wound up tight on the interstate and blew it up. Since he didn't pay for it, probably could've cared less and left it figuring daddy would buy him another one.
I'll second that thought. Now if it had been a ricer he probably would have set up camp. I just don't understand kids these days.o No:
That pin-head basically ABANDONED a rare, expensive muscle car and just hitch-hiked away? If he hadn't rolled the rental puzzled: ) I wonder if he would have even had anyone pickup the 'Cuda? Some people... I only hope he doesn't reproduce.
'nuff said! Amazing isn't it? And then to roll the rental? ou: Little extra parenting in order here or what?
my guess is the kid stole his daddy's car to run away... I'm sorry, but even if you didn't buy the car you would not leave it like that unless you were running! And if he had just been in a hurry to get to the other side of the country for whatever reason, he could have flown faster, and would be cheaper than driving....
Well, at least he rolled the rental instead of the Cuda! I can't believe how someone could abandon a car like that. Heck, if I had a car like that, I wouldn't allow it to come out of my garage! But, I guess some people take things for granted. I truly feel bad for the car.:ball: Rob
