I've driven by this car 4 times today between 10am and 10pm. It's just sitting, unattended on the shoulder of I-80. Anyone in Cali have an AAR Cuda stolen?
Boy, I sure hope the owner picks it up soon before the road demons come and strip it or haul it away. I think I would lay down beside my car until someone stopped before I would walk away from it
From the picture it looks like it was a long walk to anywhere. All they would need is some inattentive driver to clip it at 60mph. If it were my car I'd have gotten it waaayyyyy off the side of the road. Dale
Gary by all means call the local police dept. and give them the plate #'s. I can't imagine any owner leaving a car like that out on the road for more than an hour. Darn those are still one sweet looking ride.
I agree, DEFINITELY call the police. Something seems fishy. No pun intended. ou: Man, that design is timeless. I have a friend who's cousin has a BARN FULL of unrestored low milage Mopars, all purchased in the early 80's when the prices were low, many from the original owners. One of them is an AAR Cuda. He also has a 68 383 Road Runner, a 67 Hemi Bee, 70 440 six pack Superbird and a slew of 440 cars. Also a Hemi Road Runner. I believe it was a 69 or so. This is a sight to behold, because they are all original unrestored. It is truly amazing to gaze at.
Trolling for 'Cudas When you call them be sure to find out where they will impound it at when they tow it. That way you can get the low down on when the lein sale auction will be.:Brow:
It's less than a mile from the nearest town. And it's on I-80 so I know NHP has seen it a bunch of times. Maybe I'll just grab a lawn chair and sit by it until the owner comes by. It is pretty good eye-candy. Can you just hear the conversations all the Mopar fans are having as they drive by it in their pickups and 18-wheelers.
Post this to other boards Odds are, the owner of such a fine piece of machinery at least knows someone that is on a board like this one. It would probably help the cause if everyone would post a link to this on every board they are on, and email it to their mopar-driving friends.
Post it on another board and tommorrow you will see a frame left, ok maybe they will take the frame too. I would call the police and have them run the plates to see if it was stolen or to contact the owners. I as a car guy would at least use my wifes 98 honda to pull it home. :jd: whatever it takes to get her home. that is still a nice car.
Unless the driver of the car reported it stolen on purpose to get Insurance money?and had someone leave it there to get stolen on purpose? Thanks o No:
The next photo you guys see of this car will be of it parked in my shop next to the Hugger Orange GS. I think the Sublime and the Orange would complement one another quite well.:bglasses:
Gary, don't take it litterally about someone taking the car for parts or taking the whole thing.
Hey Ken. We're going to get together this winter and have a few beers and sit and oogle those Mopes for a while. I'm sorry, but you have no say in the matter. I'm imposing. You'll get a free lunch out of it. I'll contact you in January. Yardley:beer
wow, who would leave a what, 1 out of 500 car (correct me if I'm wrong) on the side of the highway?!?!?!?
I don't think they were that limited were they? Heck, 2 guys I went to high school with each had one. ('79) And of course they were jacked up and had the living sh*t kicked out of them. If only we knew then what we know now. :ball: Dale
Something sounds fishy here. That AAR Cuda to a Mopar guy is like having a GS 455 Stage 1 sitting by itself along side the highway with nobody in sight. Now tell me, if you owned a car like that would you have allowed it to sit that long? I don't think so. I know if it was my car, the first five minutes it was gone out of my sight I would've called the authorities and reported it missing. After seeing a car along the highway that long, something dosen't seem right. NOTNSS, I think I would be looking for a dead body somewhere in the desert. Rob
