That's what I call bidders remorse. I have been there many times.
But the good note it looks like a pretty decent car for a project. If I had $5550.00 right now I would out bid you.............but I don't. Good luck on your quest.

Thanks for the moral support Brian! It's not technically bidders remorse...I'd love to own it, but how many is too many? My friend Grant Baumgardner used to say, "if one isn't enough, one thousand can be too many..." Dan

Hi Ray, Thankfully, I have a " war chest" and no Mrs. Dan.

    BUQUICK I'm your huckleberry.

It says it is a manual, is it a 3 or 4-speed? Either way, it is a neat ride.

If you dont want the car you can retract your bid.

I believe you get a badboy strike against you but it is better than coughing up the cash.

Dan, are we related somehow??? Long lost twins perhaps?
Yeah, I've been eyeing that for days....my mind has been askew....should I or shouldn't I...I was going to call him, just out of curiousity, of course....
IF I had the room for it, and the money, and time, and motivation, etc, etc...I might.
    I certainly have the desire!
I went thru the same turmoil when the turquoise 4 speed vert was on eBay a few months ago!
Dan, thanks for bidding on it, that gives me a reason not to!

If the engine was properly rebuilt, it could be a good buy. 4 speeds are nice, but 3 speeds are quicker (and rarer). Wonder what it is?
I suspect it has been repainted before, and the original lead in the roof pillar was not treated properly, hence the paint failure there. If that 1/4 rust is all it has, it could be a decent body. Only way to know is to call him.
Dan, if you want it, go for it! Jimmy is in Arizona, so maybe he won't see it!
    Good Luck!
If you do buy it, and don't want it, maybe I can bail you out......

being that it's a no reserve auction on a manual trans car i highly suspect that a few people are waiting until the very last minute to bid in hopes of snatching the car up for a song.. I think it's a 4 speed judging by the tranny pics.. if i wasnt on the oposite end of the country i would be interested. if you do win it i can hook you up with any patch panels you need. Bob

    Hi Walt,
I've been eyeballing it, too. This past week, I told my attorney to cut the gold convertible loose, and let God deal with Ernie, Bob Bell and their attorneys for what they have done. I now have room for another car in the stable.....The war chest was for the lawsuit, and now I have some spending money. This car sounds like a pretty good deal to replace the vert. With no Mrs Dan to say "No, we need braces for Billy," I thought I should lowball it and see what happens. You know as well as I do, that for this price, I can't get hurt....
P.S. Walt, I guess you weren't interested in the Gran Sport jacket? I was serious about giving it to you. Dan

He added more pics since yesterday!
Yes, I just looked at the T-10 in my basement and it does look like that....drain plug on the pass side, and webs on the other side.
I'm not familiar with the 'ZA' code on the data plate. My automatic Balt-built cars have 'ZB' codes.
And it has been repainted in the original Astro-Blue color.

Dan, I would be interested in the jacket, Thanks!

    Dan,
Won't try to talk you out of it! You don't have a '66 thin pillar GS, so go for it! I saw it on ebay a few days back and was thinking that a 3 or 4 speed would be nice...

Sorry to hear about the gold convertible; it would have been a super nice car if done right.

    Thanks Steve,
I have been dealing with this for 5 years with nothing but BS from the TX legal apparatus, and finally decided to just let God take care of it. JR said you went with him to look at it, so you know just how bad the bodywork and subsequent neglect were to it. It made me sick to let go of it, but it had become a symbol of the wickedness of these people. Dan

    YOU GOT IT!!!!!
    Congratulations Dan!!:beers2: :beers2:

That looks like a great buy!
I can't believe there were no other bids! I was watching at the end, refreshing every couple of seconds, waiting for someone else to jump in...but it never happened.
And 'just in case', I had my bid in another window, ready to jump in.:TU:
If you do decide to pass on it, I know 'someone' that may be interested.:Brow:

    Enjoy!!:3gears:

YEAHHHH!!! I can't believe no one outbid me! I now join the elite of '66 GS owners by having a 4-speed version of all three body styles....Man, when God closes a door, he sure opens a nice window! Walt, we were very busy today, so I'll try to get the jacket out tomorrow. Dan:beer

    Thanks, Ted,
I talked to the seller, and it gets even better. This was a one owner car! The guy that had it kept it up as well as he could, indoors, but traded it for some landscaping work to the guy who's selling it. He said there are a bunch of parts in the trunk that the seller had picked up to restore it, and he's sending all of the paperwork, including the build sheet, owners manual and protecto-plate. Maybe I can get some warranty work with it, haha. I asked him to tell the first owner that it has found a good home with several other '66 GS's. I am arranging transport already. Man, I can't wait to get it! It's nice to find one that hasn't been jerry-rigged and ratted out by 2 generations of teenagers.....I am still smiling! Dan
