My '62 Chrysler 300 2 dr ht was "appliance white" with a red leather interior. I think that it was one of the prettiest cars that I have ever owned. Sometimes a color that looks bad on one car, looks great on another.

You're right, a buddy of mine used to have a 67 GTO in bright orange. It was an awesome color for that car! If you had a newer minivan in orange, it would look hideous!

I just picked up a 2004 GTO for a daily driver and every single one I found was Silver, Red or Black.
Out of pure luck I found a Cosmos Purple GTO sitting at a tiny lot not far from my house.
Been sitting there for a while and I was able to get it for Loan Value. I love it. Color really POPS in the sun.

It's funny how this goes in cycles. When I was buying my first new car in the mid 60s, the popular colors were the light blues, greens, golds and silvers. The reds that every one wnats on their 66 GTO now was not too well liked by the "in crowd" of the day. A red car was thought to be for "rednecks" or old men trying to look young and flashy. The first 2 new cars I bought were silver and silver with a black top. Now that I'm old and trying to be "younger" I like red. When I was getting ready to paint my current racecar, I was going to paint it black, but read an article from a maganize guy and he said if you want your car in the "mag" paint it yellow or red. Well, I went with red and the frist race I took it to they did a 2 page photo shoot on it and it has been in several magazines and newspapers since. My wife's Chrysler 300 is red and I have a red F 150 pickup. Have been talking over with the wife about painting her 67 GS 400 street car either back orginial white or changing to red to match the racecar.

Im so tired of seeing gray, white or black cars and trucks on the road.very boring! We have 3 cars (1 red, 1 yellow, 1 green) and 1 truck (dk red), no white, gray or black for us. In fact, in 2006 I bought a new Mustang vert (still own it), and the only color I wanted was Legend Lime, a metallic celery green that reminds me of a 68 Mustang color. Ford only offered this color in 05 & 06, and because you dont see that many in this color, it always gets attention. The 06 Mustang and 68 Skylark verts are always garaged to keep the tops out of the Arizona sun when not in use.

lmao!

No wonder they called that book "50 shades of gray"...

I do think silver looks great on a lot of cars/trucks, but gray just looks like primer (and just WHO would want a car that looks like a cloudy winter day?). On the plus side it's one of the easier colors to keep clean, as opposed to my white cars I used to own or my friends' black ones.

I've also been jealous of all the bland 'sandstone' GM colors from the '01 era, because hey, is there dirt on it? I dunno, must not be, the whole thing looks like mud :bla:

Pantone says this year's hot color is Emerald Green. Last year was Tangerine.
Don't see that trend follow automobiles.

Question is, are those colors popular because they are what people really want and what they are asking for?
Or, the result of not having a wide spectrum to choose from on the lot to begin with?
If 74% of new cars already on dealer lots are a combination White, Black, Silver & Grey, then by default those would be the most popular.
Can't sell what isn't built.

White is a fleet vehicle color.

White is also the color of all those Work Trucks and Delivery Vans that don't sell out until after all the used ones are bought up in the local area:rolleyes:

And you know I don't mean pretty white, I mean Refrigerator White
