My first car was almost a 72 Challenger. Unfortunately it was $700 more than the 73 Nova SS. This was in 79 or 80. The Nova was a great car for 7-8 years, but I would rather have had the Challenger... There were no used Buicks to be found.
Frans car[the GTX] has dipped into the 10`s,and he stills drives it around on the street. All with no nawwsss
Wow..... NICE GTX!!!!!! Great selection of wheels too! Welcome aboard!!!! Okay Dick, That's very ironic...I had a 72 charger identical to that one...same color and all. Mine had the monster 318 with an automatic in it. My best friend at the time had a 340 Demon with a three speed on the column, and another buddy of ours had a 383 challenger. I bought my charger with cragars on it, and changed to the magnums....back in 82.....everyone thought i was nuts to take them cragars off....heh heh.
Talk about irony..... You took off Cragars to put on the magnums. I got rid of the magnums w/Goodyear Polyglass and bought Cragars w/BFG T/A radials. Mine came with a 400 2bbl. You probably could have beat it with the 318. I found a 1968 383 4bbl that made that car fun to drive. I wish I still had it. The underdash Learjet FM-cassette stereo playing through Mind Blower 6"x9" speakers was the killer stereo of the time. Those were speakers that had 100 watt amps on each speaker. ou: :3gears:
Unfortunately, the Dodge Coronet that I had in High School and college was a 53 flathead six. At least it was relatively safe, had a huge interior for various activities, and had indestructible bumpers for knocking down mailboxes. My buddy's 66 Coronet was basically a Charger in disguise if I remember right. Another buddy's 71 Challenger 440 magnum 4spd was to die for (or in, but furtunately we didn't). The Coronet friend later bought a 70 383 4spd Cuda and wrapped it around a tree but luckily nobody was killed that time either. Both these Mopars were too fast for teenagers but they sure were fun at the time. No Mopars in my garage now, but am always happy to challenge one and chew the fat about them. Welcome.
