If you do the Mexican thing, don't linger, don't sightsee. Do your business and get out. Outside of the tourist areas, Mexico is not the safest place to be.

Unfortunately, for the same reason I can't just cross into Canada and back. Australians (and the citizens of quite a few other countries now) can enter the US under the 'Visa Waiver Program'. It means we complete our application on line at $14 and it's valid for 2 years, 90 days at time, BUT (and it is a big BUT) under this 'Visa Waiver Program' Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas (and possibly the Caribbean in totality) are considered a part of the US (I'm not sure whether the US has told Canada particularly, this little 'ownership' fact though!). So I must go further afield.

I like the 4 door too - in many ways more than the two door!

Make sure you come through Austin if you like to live it up a little. I'll show you around!

Hi Bad Boattail, for whatever reason, I can't reply to either of your last posts -

I have come across a reference to the Park Avenue in a Wikipedia article on the Buick Electra - my understanding is that only 37 were made (and I suspect there are VERY few of those 37 'alive' today). That you have one makes two now I know of (one of the guys in the Buick Club I've had some contact with told me he has one too). VERY 70's - very likeable.

As to the I-96 visa - as I've applied under the Visa Waiver Program, I can't step outside those guidelines without closing that off for ever. If you haven't applied under the program then the I-96 is easy and a good choice. I've sent an email To Border Security to get confirmation because it would be sooo much easier if I could do Canada or Mexico. Stephen

Thanks Austingta. Don't expect to be in Augusta soon but will take you up on your offer at some point. Stephen

    Not Augusta. Austin TX...way different.

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

And the spelling isn't the Maine difference.

I'm laughing so much my faux pas I've got tears in my eyes! It looks like it was too much for my head to deal with the similarity between your handle 'austingta' and 'Augusta' - I know Augusta and Austin are in different states but it looks like my head just decided to make life easy and move Augusta! Still laughing! Stephen

Hi all, some of you have shown interest in my travel Blog. It seems that accessing it is far easier than I had initially thought - an email address looks to not be needed, just a link. Here it is - it's the complete journey since I left Sydney in late August. (let me know whether you have problems accessing it):

All right - don't have to keep rubbing it in!!

Looking at your current 'Location' it looks like you are on your way to Singapore. If you like Singapore Chilli Crab but don't want to mortgage the house to eat it as you do if you eat in Stanley Street, go to 'Uncle Leong Seafood'. There are 3 branches in Singapore in Punggol, Toa Payoh & Jurong East. Excellent chilli crab (and other Chinese choices) - 4 adults and one child ate for about $S160.

Hi Briz, I'll be leaving Cleveland some time this Sat morning heading for the latter part of the Mecum Kissimmee auction via Charlotte (Sat night) and Atlanta (for a drink with Patrick on Sunday evening if that suits him), so I should be near north Florida late Monday afternoon if all goes well. My mobile is (505) 9198967, if you want to txt me so I have your mobile number then we can hook up on Monday evening if that suited you? Stephen

Hi Patrick, I'm leaving Cleveland Sat morning (hopefully early) for Charlotte on Sat night, then I was going to head for Atlanta to take you up on that 'First beer' offer on Sunday later afternoon / evening. Would that suit you? I'll only overnight in Atlanta if that works as I want to get to Kissimmee for the Mecum auction  and to spend a bit of time thawing out in Florida before flying off to (I think) Iceland for a 10 day Visa turnaround. My mobile is (505) 9198967. Stephen
