The shop here just finished working on this KIT car body. AND with a fresh coat of British Racing Green its all ready to ship away to the mechanic to put it together
Go 4 It Carol Shelby was gonna put a Buick 455 Stage1 in that car... but It didn't fit so he went w/ Ford :spank: :blast: ou: Can probably make it fill. Will go like hell. :TU: Anthony
Sweet looking ride. Gotta hand it to ole' c. Shelby, when he created this car it was meant for speed. How much are these kit cars usually for just the kit itself? :3gears:
http://factoryfive.com/ I've been wanting to build one of these forever! I don't see why a 455 wouldn't fit in there.
They come in a kit without engine or drivetrain. But I think you can buy them assembled as well. You can even attend a Factory Five school where the classroom is assembling the cars, etc. Sign up for the free information packet. It has all the details.
This is an upcoming company here in KCMO that is wanting a peice of the pie and this is one of the first body's they produced. Our shop has had ALOT of input to its design and the next body from the mold should be MUCH better. (and it better) There is NO DOUBT a 455 will fit in it!!! I already saw the chassis set up. AND this company has produced a repro alunimum body that is out of this world better than Ive ever seen. ANyway we are doing a blue one next I hear!! I wish the sun was out when the picture was taken it looks sooooo much better. BTW the engine for this one is a 428 ford
Ohhhhhhhh I've seen EVERY Ferd engine available for those Cobras, from the small block to ALL aluminum biggie (my buddy that built my 455 does all the custom and dyno work for Shelby & Superformance), and most look cool! He has built & dyno'ed every combo they ask for, and what is most surprising, he could tell you what HP you'll make before he builds it (within 10-15 hp). :bglasses: Of course he had NO idea of a Buick 455. If anyone out there is looking at something along these lines, ask him any questions. http://www.perfeng.cc/ In fact, he usually knows exactly which jets to put in the carb once he knows the engine's components. :TU:
Thanks Mark :TU: ... I'm buying 1 of these and putting a 455 in somday... I mean I will buy one someday. Anthony
A Cobra used to be my dream car until a couple of years ago. I went to a fatal where a kit Cobra split in half after the driver lost control and T-boned himself against a car going the oposite direction. The Cobra's driver and passenger were both DRT. Without going into all the gorey details, the fire department had to wash some of the passenger off the roadway. After seeing how little protection the car offered, my desire to have one went away.
My friend has a "Continuation Series" Cobra built by Shelby. It has the all aluminum FE at about 480 cubes, plus fuel injection. I agree with your comment about protection, or lack there of. We went for a ride and there ain't diddly there. A little aluminum door panel and that's it  It still does haul butt! Craig
Wellllll.....Shelby made the Shelby 260 in what, 1962? The 260 was the "Cobra" before it was known as the Cobra, in fact, to my knowledge, a lot of "Cobras" people ogle are in fact Shelby 260s Yes, he originally wanted a Buick mill...and it's a fact a lot of people don't want to hear about...but I don't think the Stage 1 455 was prototyped until 1969 And yes, if a side-oiler would fit in there, a Stage 1 455 sure could :TU: Of course, the small V8 Cobras and the large V8 Cobras have slightly different bodies I'd rather have a GT40 Mk II, though. Not the new putrid pop-puke Ford GT, the Le Mans race car from the '60s. It would be street legal, too, in some states :TU:
