looks like there isn't any of the famed wheelwell lip rot....just lower quarter. can you juse use a patch panel on the lower half or is it worse than it looks?
Reynold, Thanks! Believe me, I know what I have and I refuse to be "that guy"...you know, the one who 20 years from now wishes he still had his car? Chris, The original color is Burnished Copper, code 63-63 and I plan on keeping it that way...eventually.... brblx, Trust me, they NEED to be replaced....
Cowl code 63 63 - Burnished copper upper/lower Trim Code 138 A51 - Black bucket seats Thanks for the interest in the registry Brett! I appreciate it. She's gonna be a beauty with some time and effot :TU: How about getting a MA caravan down the the BPG region 1 picnic on June 7th in Holmdel NJ?
Marco, Thanks for the info. I was looking around here trying to find that copy of a window sticker you sent me last year because I had written down the code on it...then it (for some reason) popped in my head...the registry seems to really be taking off, huh?
Thanks Brett! I'm trying to get the word out... Is it the 'New Car Order Form' you're referring to? There's one on my website on the registry page for you to copy. Enjoy!
Brett, Nice find - in case you didn't know, you have found 1 of the 101 Stage 1 4 speed cars produced in '72. That makes 3 I know of on this site. I found mine sitting in the garage in which it had sat for 15 years.
I guess considering today's market, I should consider myself thankful I don't have to buy a grill, huh? Headlights...well, that might be a different story....
Update I just got off the phone with my mechanic who also happens to be an old high school buddy. He takes on "side jobs" from time to time, for a little extra loot and my car's been there for the last 2 months only because he added bushings to my OEM shifter and that didn't work. I sent the shifter to Pete Serio here and although the shifter felt a lot better, the Muncie was still popping out of gear. So now my buddy takes out the tranny again and sends it out for a rebuild and it's FINALLY finished (the rebuild) and he should have it in next week....UGH!! So, the Muncie cost me $300.00, the shifter rebuild was $130.00 and the work done on the tranny was $600.00...sounds about right for a new Muncie, doesn't it..:ball: :ball: This really has become a "labor of love"......:Brow: :Brow:
But hey, Brett, you won't have to worry about those parts again! I didn't reread this whole thread, so I'm not sure if you mentioned if it was the original tranny or not. If so, definitely worth rebuilding for a numbers match. Glad to hear you're making some progress! :TU:
Ken, Thanks! Unfortunately this is not the original Muncie, that's long, LONG gone but now, it's one less thing to worry about. Speaking of progress, how's things with your beast?
Staged Brett - I thought you could not tell a stage car by the VIN...is that different in a 72? What does the plate say? (in case I'm EVER as lucky as you were!) - Bill
Re: Staged Bill - 1972-1974 Stage1 identification is a BREEZE - If the 5th digit in the VIN is a 'V', it's a factory Stage1 car :TU: I wish all years could be as simple...
Re: Re: Staged I don't know what happened in 71. All you could tell from the VIN is that it was a GS right? 455, 350, Stage 1 or whatever, it was all the same I think. Am I right? o No:
Re: Staged Bill, The best was the guy I'm buying the car from is going off on his sales pitch and the whole time I'm staring at the "V" in the VIN, hardly hearing what it is he's saying...:Brow: Marco's right...ALL the years should have been this easy!!
Brett, any progress photos of your car? I think it's been a year since we've seen any new pictures. :Brow:
Soon, Chris, Soon... I'm still busy hoarding parts! I am, however, going to try and find the build sheet and whatever else I can dig up this Saturday, weather and time permitting.. I know, I move slower than molases...it's all about having enough $$$$$$ :ball:
