Jerry, we'll see. Im really not worried about it. If its real great. If its not I dont really care. If I couldnt afford to lose 100.00 then I'd have flat out said no. Told the guy I didnt want or need the stuff but he insisted I take it. Next time I'm out that way will pull into that station to see if he's still around.

If it's real, it's probably hot, and if the cops come looking for it, they'll seize it and you'll end up having some serious explaining to do as to how you came across this stuff, and once you get out of that jam, then you're out the stuff and your cash. There is a reason why pawn shops have to hold stuff for for months (not sure how long it is near you) before they can sell it. Every piece coming in has to be investigated and is reported. So if these were stolen and the thieves tried to take it there, they knew going in that their odds of getting paid were slim, so it's better to stiff someone on the street and get a few bucks. If it's real and you send it to melt, they may put a hold on to it and send it to the cops, where you might end up losing it. But if it is real and you get it melted down, you've got a couple grand sitting there. Rule Number One in this life is no one ever gives a complete stranger anything for free, (or cheap) there's always a catch.
    That's the risk you took.
Second; if it's fake, there may be in that pile about $50 of gold plate on copper or lead. Once the fees and taxes come off, you aren't left with much.
So; I'd pretty much write that one off in the spirit of Christian charity and call that $100 a loss; feel good that you helped someone out and leave it at that.
    Good Luck

People from India love gold. They usually have lots of it. I would say if the tires on his car were bald he pulled one on you. If not you may have gotten lucky. You know what kind of karma you have . Were your sacs fat or skimpy?

He was driving a 2017 - 18 Ford SUV. Clean and shiny. Tires were good. He and the others in the car were well dressed. As far as hot, I'll melt that junk down as fast as I got it. I have a crucible and a good heat source.I personally know both pawn brokers here in town and do their work at their shops and homes And whats a Skimpy sac?

I was referring to your stated previous occupation. How you treated your customers builds your Karma. Im not talking about the derelicts that come with the territory. If your customer service was exemplary then im betting this Indian guy at least gave you enough to double your money. Skimpy sac = light on the weight, lots of lumber inside (stems seeds). Fat sac= tipping the scales over.

Ohhhhhh I see. LoL. People always got exactly what they paid for and the best of what I had went into every bag. I kept the shake for my own use. Nearly every transaction was weighed in front of the customer on digital scales unless it was at the drive through. So I guess I got good karma.

When your right your right and perhaps I knew all along also. This morning I went into one of my local pawn shops. Have known the owner, Allen, very long time. As soon as he saw the ring he said " let me guess, A guy in a dark SUV told you he needed gas and food for his kids" LOL I said yepper! Allen says he's seen about 40 of the same ring and like chains in the last several weeks. As I was standing there shooting the crap with him another guy came in with a big chain and the same ring..... He wasn't as amused as I was!

Wow . At least your laughing about it. I guess everything can look right but still be wrong. I wonder what was tbe first and instantly first tbought u had. I tell my daughter and myself that that first one is usually the correct one. Weve been trained out of our natural senses by our lifestyles.

Couple weeks ago in O'Reilly's some prick was In there with whining and crying for gas money guys at the counter were listening at this mess when I walked in he turns and looks at me and starts to open his mouth but as in most cases me "wearing my feelings on my face" as my wife calls it,..chose to forego his sales pitch to me. I'm starting to think I'm not "approachable" which sucks because I want the chance to engage in a meaningful conversation with these people ha

I am glad we still have full service gas stations in Jersey. Less chances for someone to scam you.

Briz, I hope something good happens for you.
