John, if you think it's not a GS, I would defer to your recollection. Sometimes memory fills in things that were never there.

I think the green Stage 1 is from that area too? Again, memory . . . I do recall that Skylark was the first one I ever saw in person.

Diego, I looked at that Suncoupe every time I went down to the NATS in the 90's It sat there by the tire shop on US31 for at least 8 years and the guy wanted at first like 6K. That car is the exact copy of the car that my wife had when we were married. If memory serves he finally sold it ( more rusty) for 4K locally. The Green Stage 1 car was owned by Dave Newton a used car dealer and collector from Tenn. He made the trip every year with it until he sold it . He then bought a extremely low mile Turbo pace car TransAm. He had that for maybe a year and sopld it an bought a extremely low mile 87 GN. I have not seen Dave for a couple years.

I believe this is a pic of that car. I think it's in a museum somewhere now?

Yes thats Daves old car . Also it was a Muscle Car Review feature car. There is a link to a Museum here and I sent an email to see if they still had it but they did not respond yet.

John the fact that you say it was at a tire shop makes sense, as I do recall it outside some kind of business, rather than outside some residence.

Yes, this is the car I built for the wife. I bought it intitally as a driver for Terry. After the body man finished with it we decided it was way too nice to be a driver. In 1989 we made our first trip to BG and I met some hometown guys ( Haeffner's) Terry took a ride in the copper 72 and on the way home she said " Can you build me a 455"? Well I had just finished the 350 for her car but I said yes I can! She was hooked after that. Terry picked out the color and interior color. The car was originally Cortez gold or close. Tan top and interior.A/C 350 power drum. Now its a Stage 1 th350 (built) 342 posi, F41, Disc, A?C, P/W, P/L, Cruise, Rear defrost, P/trunk, 8 track, bucket console spoilers and TA hedders, flowmasters with 3" exhaust. Soon it will have a N 25 with Wheelz 3" tips.

    John,

I'm either going to send you a spare digital camera (to get some new pics of the Stage 1 SunCoupe) or stop by next time (to get some new pics of the Stage 1 SunCoupe) I go visit my Mom & Sister in your neck of the woods ...

    What a Summer cruiser.

I saw that blue 69 at BG years ago. It had the top from a Triumph in it. It was a bit smaller roof but had an automatic deflector that poped up when the roof was opened. Pretty nice set up and well done custom work unless you are a 68/69 purist. I being a Sncoupe NUT, like it. I have not seen it since.

Yeah, it is cool. Those enclosures caught my eye too, they look like something you'd slide the seat belt into when not use. I couldn't find anything on them in my books. All the cars I've seen have clips in place for that reason, interesting.

Just a little FYI this car also carried every original part except the lower rad hose, water pump, and fan. Must have had a WP failure. There is every inspection from new in my paperwork and the mileage is at 7x,xxx miles.
Update today I received the reworked POA and expansion valve and will have the A/C box installed by nex week. I have TPP repo A/C hoses, and Evap core. After the A/C box is the engine and the brake booster/ master cyl which I bought here NOS ( Thanks Matt) I still need to buy some wiring but I checked my underedash and its still pliable and I might reuse it. I am adding a few Genuine Buick options Cruise, P/W, P/L rear defrost, P/Trunk, AM/FM 8 track, BUcketsand console (maybe), if I cannot find a center arm rest seat at BG that I can use, tilt definately, ralley steering wheel, and woodgrain door panels.
JW restored my hood hinges and original Stage 1 Carb. I Still need to have the bumpers done ( I have a N25) and the top/interior headliner. Looks like 2010 NATS will be the coming out party.

If your talking about the plastic enclosure above the door thats exactaly what they are for. To hold the shoulder belt when not in use. :TU:
