I had a 73 Vega with a 307 2bl. Didn't upgrade the trans, rear or frame. It lasted about 3 months. After that the doors didn't fit right. The car was twisted up a little. But it was fun. I couldn't imagine what a 350 would run like, WOW. Kurt
It lasted about 3 months. After that the doors didn't fit right. The car was twisted up a little. yeah, i'd definitely try and figure out how to brace that unibody.
Yeah, I have a buddy who made a drag car out of a Monza. I know he made some subframe connectors. He ran a 327 with a turbo 350, S-10 rear end, S-10 spindles, and a 5-lug conversion for the wheels. I can't imagine it would've lasted very long without some sort of bracing.
There are braces for the sub-frame available for the H body no need to go custom.... Have a look over at the H body site many members with stout V8s in the these cars.
I did a quick search on the subframe connectors with not much luck. I think the only thing that's available right now are braces for the front/rear, but nothing to connect the two, unless you wanna cut the floor and weld in connectors.
I looked at this car about 10 months ago.Sent a deposit to Chuck pending inspection. The car wasn't near what he described so unhappily he refunded my deposit.I still have pictures he sent of the car.If your interested in them PM me with your address and I'll send them you way. Tom
Sorry to disappoint, but no rust holes  I'll shoot some more pics tomorrow when there's some light outside. Just got back from an interesting photoshoot. We'll see if he'll chime in and start a thread on it.
As requested! I know. . . it's dirty. Keep in mind, this vehicle will be for sale shortly. I put the Hurst shift handle on it so I could at least drive it . . . I have the original, but it's cracked and wants to fall off every time you shift.
1,450 seems to be everyone's best guess. 450 in '79, and 1,000 in '80, but these numbers are speculative; nobody really knows for sure. There really isn't much information on these cars either. Bryan McCready seems to be the head guru for questions.
I have the Domestic and Export car report from Buick on the H for 1980. RPO Y43 = 292 RoadHawks made for 80 Buick cut production to 8,322 H's that year. Sloan cannot find the 79 report. Guessing from all the other Buick's for this model I would say for 79 it would be around 2k. Brian
glad a buick nut was picking up this car, is one of 14 known drivers left of 1500 cars, there are about 16-18 parts cars or known salvage cars . I have a 79 too, with 6 and 4speed. He sent me the same pics wanting to know If I wanted it. Could not finance at this time, so glad for you. craig
