Newest addition to my collection. One owner, 22,000 original miles. A small block transplant is in the future!
It was an older gentleman's car. He bought it brand new in the area. Garaged since it was new, and apparently never driven in the winter, judging by the underside. Not much else to tell, other than the super low mileage.
Well, it's for sale too. I plan on doing a Buick 350 transplant and then turning it; hopefully for a profit.
If you want to turn a profit, you should probably NOT put a 350 in it. It will hold more value as an original car and not modified. JMHO...
Yes, all Skyhawks of the 75-80 years came only with 231 V6's. The RoadHawk is a pretty rare car, especially one in that condition. I'm not too sure I'd start cutting it up just yet.
If you do swap a 350 in then keep the 231 dry and safe for the new owner... There are a few people who have swapped in Buick 350s into the Skyhawks (same body as Roadhawk), so search for info on here. The swap is VERY easy and I do suggest it if you plan to drive the car... OR go with a Turbo on the 231, that is what I want to do on my 56,000 mile 78 Skyhawk.
HMMMM . . . turbo . . . now there's an idea. Just afraid it would be too much for the little baby motor to handle! I appreciate the advice Brad. I know it would be worth more stock; and it is COMPLETELY STOCK, down to the original belts and hoses, as well as the TIRES. The photos do make it look better than it really is; a couple dings, faded paint/stripes, and a couple of the stripes are starting to peel a tiny bit. I plan on taking it to the Iola Car Show, and if it sells as is, that would be fine. If it doesn't, I'll prolly swap in the 350 from my 70 and drive it for a while. I'll be sure to hang on to the original motor.
Forgot to mention, it's the 4-speed. If I'm correct, I think you could get a Borg-Warner 5-speed as an option, as well as a Turbo 350. Maybe it's better I don't swap in the 350 . . . the tiny 13" wheels and baby-sized tires would be in a world of hurt.
I've looked around a bit, and can't seem to come up with what cars like this are going for. Anyone have any ideas?
There is a small demand for these cars... I was trying to sell my mint 78 Skyhawk but no takers it seems.
http://roadhawk.homestead.com/roadhawk.html Just a suggestion. Enjoy the car as is for now. Sell it at the end of the Summer. With the economy now I wouldn't dump money into anything odd. Its a rare car but to a small list of collectors. Kurt
Echo that. But on the other hand,i remember the Chevy Monza coming with optional 305,so there is room for a SBB in there.A 215 would be cool:bglasses: List it 4 sale here first!!!
I have attached some pics of Rogers car that he swapped in a Buick 350 without many hassles. More info about the H body cars here and even a for sale section if you do plan to sell.... Post your pics over there anyways they would love to see your car!!! http://forums.h-body.org/index.php
