    Danie,

    I hope Jim Burek doesn't string me up for saying this, or dropping his name here. Because we all know how fast discussions like this can get outa hand, as proven by the last post he had about the block on here. But...........

    I was just talking to him about this recently and for what its worth to ya, I can say that we will see a new block pretty quick. In fact Dick is looking at starting shipping as early as November. He had a couple issues that he HAD to fix before moving ahead with the project simply to make sure a product went out, that would live up to the ''hype'' so to speak. Ain't much sense in shipping something that doesn't fit or work. I can only assume that yall have a deposit in for one, as yall are near the top of a list of folks that I would say NEED (in a big way) one. The way it was told to me was, if you aren't on the list with a deposit, you are on the bottom of the list.

    Jim did forward some info to me, like, 4 bolt mains with either Billet(for a little extra $$$ for obvious reasons) or cast caps. And they are working around a 59mm cam tunnel, to allow for a larger cam option if wanted. Compared to a 45mm(approx.) stock size, that is huge with plenty of meat around it. Thats just a couple things I remember. Jim actually told me about a fuel injected 573'' street engine that he has taken an order for at the shop. And is beginning work on now. I wouldn't think he would take an order like this if the new block wasn't gonna happen. Anywayssssss

    Danie and Rod ,Just a little of what I know about the deal from Jim. Hope it helps yall, if not, sorry, lol.

    Jim, Hope I didnt get you wound up for letting this info I have out. If I did, just give me a ring and chew my butt,lol.

    Later......................

    I'll second that!! :TU: (nothing personal Rod!)

    Danie, I'd be willing to bet thats only the case in you're photo book :Brow:

    Now!!!! I was being good and staying away from this thread and we got pulled into it anyway, how'd that happen? :puzzled:

    Personally I like the idea of a calander with Buicks & women if done in good taste of course :rolleyes: Danie, you might have a best seller on you're hands!

    Thanks John :eek: I have the same thoughts that it is just my album that is lacking.

    Anyone willing to send pics of their two prize posessions (car & woman) to me and I'll try to put something together for a calendar. I could make a draft of one and post it here and take orders.

    ~~~~~
    I'll fill Rod in about the block. Do you know how many are going to make the first round? Maybe I'll have Rod call him.
    Block Fix???
    Ok. I don't mean to get away from the "cool" topic but on the cracked block......... Has anyone tried to use a nickel based rod to weld the block back togther??? I've had some bad cracks on the Buick Iron before and they welded up great by the right guy that knew what he was doing. They have alot of nickel that I guess makes it weld up good. For the $$$ and time that goes into a block and considering it still runs, welding would be something looking into. I don't know how bad it is cracked but Just a thought. You have to find a well knowledged welder that knows about compatibility and what to use for a filler metal. A basic guy thats just a good welder with the standard gas wire feed setup wont cut it. I had a rocker stand split in half and completely break off a iron head, the back flange break off the back of the block from being dropped, and a exhaust port water jacket and hole that need repaired. The welding work was Awsome and never had an alignment or failure problem. :Do No:
    Heck, if I can get my hands on one of the split block, or with cracks and try to get it fixed from the guy that does my work, that equals a good CHEEP spare thats already setup. :Brow:
    Anyone????
    Rod has talked about that before, but would never do it with the blower motor. If it didn't work he is afraid it would take out the whole motor. If it was just a mild street motor he would think about it. We knows a guy that is an awsome welder. Jay and his father build custom jacks to move houses and buildings. He can weld anything. He has done tons of custom work on the Hawk. Matter of a fact he made the intake manifold for the Hawk. Rod would trust him to weld the block, he just wouldn't trust the block to handle the blower.
    I hear yA'
    I can totally understand that. A block is still alot cheeper to replace over everything when it lets go completely. What about putting "stack" welds over the oil passages and the crack prone spots to maybe help reinforce it and keep it from cracking???? I would be interested in a "junk" block just to try it on. I think one would stay together for what I put it though. If not, I have enough "left-overs" to put together a genade and give it a shot. If it shows to work, I'm sure there would be people that would be glad to try it. I would hope that if you caught the crack the first time that you could catch it a second time before you loose it all. Who up for gambling??? Anyone with the odds on this, no guessing.......
    Danie,
    The way I understand it, a run of 25 will be done, and deposits have been taken for like20 of them. After that there is a active list of ''people to call'' once they are being poured. Of all people I can't believe Rod hasn't been in contact with Jim. Yall need this project to work !!! Get a call in would be my recommendation, but I'm just a hick. I know when I asked Jim about it, I was WAYYYYY down on a long list of those to be called. But thats the way it works, if you don't believe in something, or someone, making something happen, you lose. I questioned it , like oh sooooo many out there. Then, when I am thinking its gonna happen, I call, only to find out I may be too late. My agenda now is to look into getting a deposit in, to put myself in front of those on the need to call list. If I don't I'll never get that new end table, lol................
    Later..............
    Is that what you were trying to do at Salem,:Brow: You do have a really nice dog. I would think he would attract a lot of ladies, I came over to talk to you. If that doesn't work I'm sure one of these guys could cut and paste a girl next to your car.
    ~~~~~~~

    Dave-

    Rod has talked to him in the past about the block. When ever Jim is around at events he pulls Rod aside to talk to him about it. Rod didn't want to put down any money because he didn't know what the final specs were going to be. I'm sure Rod told him the same as he has told Mike that he would be a for sure sale. I know Mike would take his word from past sales, Rod just says do it no matter what the $. I don't know where Rod falls on the call list, I would hope it would be towards the top.

    The girl in my avistar is me. I don't know who Josh has in his. With some of the work these guys have done on the board with the photo shop, you might be able to have them cut and paste a woman on your car :Brow:
