this new owner seems like a good guy, easy to get in touch with and isn't expecting a 30K for 10K. he sounds tickled pink and I am glad the car is goign to a good owner. This one was a tough sale though with this economy...I lost enough on this car to buy me a brand new race bike! Good to hear from you from time to time Tony, don't be a stranger. I'll be back into Gran Sports in no time (this time holding out for a car like the one that got away so many years ago)

    gsparts, email on the way

I saw that. I wish I was ready to buy again. BUt as is, it will be a year or so before I save up enough to get the old 3 pedaled car replaced. That one would be perfect but this years economy says I must wait

The new owner of this car (Bill) just left my house on his way home. He is thrilled to death with the car, and even more so by the price he paid and the car he received. I had no idea he bought the car until he called earlier today and told me he was on his way home from Kansas with his new 462 cu in ragtop GS. He and his son flew in and are driving it home. They had an electrical problem once they arrived in the DFW area and with a little luck and a few of my spare parts they are back on the road heading south to Austin. I got a quick ride and it is a very strong running car.

Congrats to Bill and Wade. :beer

I haven't talked with bill yet. We met up Friday and I drove the car one last time to Topeka. Did all of the transfer paperwork for Bill, had some lunch and tehn i watched it drive off south towards Texas. That car was no perfect car by any means, but we sure had fun in it. My kids are still not happy with me.

What electrical gremlin did Bill have? The tach and the alt light would flash simultaneously on the highway at times. I am glad they got home good...that would have been a long drive at 3200rpm from Topeka to Austin.

This is the first car I have totally lost my butt on (almost 8K!)...to the few of the members who harassed me about the car being junk a few months ago, you missed out on a neat car. Yes, I am still not happy with having to sell my verts this year, but a dad has to do what a dad has to do and Bill seems to be a great new owner for it. he even got offered cash to buy the car as we were at the bank in KC...he said to the lady hounding him it is not going anywhere anytime soon. Nice to meet Bill and his son, enjoy the car.

The battery was not charging so he had to get jump started after getting gas in North Texas. When they got to my house we swapped out the alternator and after firing it back up all was well and they were on the road again. :3gears:

For what it's worth, in my opinion the car was an outstanding value at the price it sold for. The car is a driver, not a show car and it will need a little work one day if you want to take the time and money to chase perfection. It will be very hard to find a real GS convertible with a performance built 455 and TH400 like this car in the $10k range. :TU:

figures, the alternator is about the only thing I didn't replace. I had that checked out at Auto Zone and it checked out good as it would flash me a light just every so often, never with any regularity...these old cars gotta love them. That long drive from KC to Texas probably found the weakness and made it stick

I am hoping to be back in to a Buick by next year, maybe one more like my first Stage 1 with the correct number of pedals or that elusive X car, Stage 1. Oh well, back to the wishing well for now.

Hey Wade, Well I finally made it back to South Texas (no more problems with the car, it's been great) Had to get my co-pilot from the Kansas trip off to college, get myself a root canal, and many other things... I still gotta pinch myself every time I look at this car. I just wanted a GS, never dreamed it would be a big block convertible to boot. To all who passed on this car, you missed a good one. Also just wanted to thank James Weiman for the help after the alternator hiccup in North Texas. Wade, I'll be in touch.
