I thought I would post a few pictures of the restoration with Original paint, top and interior. I do have a question rather to cut the head gasket or not. Later I plan on selling the car and you cannot see the stage-1 WS stamp on the block because the head gasket covers it. I did have a lot of work done to the engine but the block was Not decked to preserve the stamp. This engine is the original with the VIN stamped on the front. .
I would cut the gasket for sure. Great work on the '72. Thanks for your efforts to put a rare '72 back on the road (or show field).
Yes the VIN is correct and on the passenger side.. A picture of just before tear down for body shop. (WISH I would have Not done it)……. Picture of beautiful rust Free Sheetmetal... . .
I used the 1125 - Fel-Pro performance head gaskets. I am sure this is going to fun to cut let alone get to.
Motor is ready for that one and the body is well on its way to being finished also. I am still hopeful that you will find the paperwork.
First rub, a couple more and it should be good. It is hard to believe that the convertible top is 47 years old. I hope to get it down on the frame soon... .
It cleans up nicely but the well liner is brittle and needs to be replaced. I was going to change the well liner but you have to dismantle the rear bow to install the liner. I am sure it would not go well. Plus with all the restoration a used top would not do the car justice.
Bench seats are my preference . I also prefer a column shifted automatic transmission to a 4-speed in anything that has 8 cylinders. This is indeed a beautiful car. Great job Nelson.
