Guys, keep it on track. Please don't muck this thread up with on going bullsh*t. Let it go and enjoy Nelson's zone car.

Nice job Nelson, looking forward to seeing it done. I had a line on the Cleveland zone car a few years back but missed out on it.

Hi Chris. wonder if I know of the same one. I did the motor for it years ago, non #'s but correct date codes. It was in his family for a long time and needed to sell it due to personal reasons, we were close on price then he moved south and stored it and now is restoring it. Gives me updates now and then.

Thank you to all for the post. I think we all have a passion for all different cars for different reasons and it would be dull if they were all the same.

I replaced the heater core and received the rear bumper today. Installed the goodies on them to get them ready to install on the car.

Those look great. Who did the chrome work?

I hope there is finally a GSX reunion in 2021 and that you are able to bring one of yours to BG, but for 2022 I hope this '72 is complete and you can bring it to the GS Nats. I've been considering putting together a "Class of '72" reunion for that event and having this beautifully restored car there would be a real treat.

Is your well liner the one I had in my '72...a cross-hatched plastic with white threads embedded? I never even found the part number for that, much less anyone who repros it or an NOS one. Mine was good enough to clean up and keep, but at the GS shows, very few had that one on their restored cars.

There was someone who was making something similar, but as I remember (long time ago) the pattern of the embedded threads was not the same.

    Car looks awesome!

    Cheers,

    Richard

Gary, Tri city did the bumpers. I have sent them my bumpers for the last ten years.

Richard, yes it has the original well liner that looks like you described. I should take some good pictures of it, it is kind of crispy and should be replaced. I purchased a couple that are similar but not exactly the same. I am debating installing a new top or let it be.

Thank you both for the comments.
May is too early for me to make the GSX reunion. I Need to get my GSX from the body shop.

Wow that really is a clean bumper. It must have been very straight too because it doesn't have the usual hammer marks on the back. I sure would love to see that car at BG in 2022..hint, hint. :) Please keep posting photos of the good work. I have a soft spot for the '72 Zone Office cars.

Not a bad looking top for being almost 50 years old. I hope to get it replaced next weekend. Time to put the interior back in.
