I thought that is a 72 interior in 71 gs. So the base model interior was the same for 71 and 72?

Could someone explain this further? Never had one on my 71 stage 1 or seen one on the GS's I have had that came with posi?

71 was for sure external regulator. I've heard some late 72 models had the internal style but that was big cars only I thought?

    Tim R,
The car should NOT have a limited slip decal on the trunk lid, some other makes had them, but not Buick.

The car also has a standard interior, not a deluxe/custom interior, so it would have no rear courtesy lights in the sail panels, but would have a dome light.

    Tim,
Yes the 71-72 standard interiors had the same design.

    If I may...

add my two cents in here...

I could be wrong but weren't ralleye gauges standard on cars that came with the factory tachometer?

I've never read that (or heard it for that matter) anywhere but it's always been what I've noticed when I've seen a factory tachometer in a car...

Hence the term, "tach and gauges"....

Thanks for that info , Duane. I have never seen that in a GS.

The first 70 Stage 1 4-speed car I bought had a standard front bench seat interior. It sure looked strange because I was used to the deluxe/custom interiors. I kind of liked it, because it was so different.

I guess we should realize that back then guys would give up Luxo for speedo. I guess Going fast with class had it's exceptions.

Brett here's the deal...On the one hand you have option UPC Code WB8, Instrument Gauges with Tach, and on the other hand you have option UPC code WB7, Instrument Gauges with Rallye Clock (Rallye clock being the 24 hour type).

So there were (2) ways to get the gauge package.

True Glen, but I think the question really is how do get a tach? Isn't WB8 the only way to get one, in which case you would have gauges? I didn't see where you could get a tach only and still have idiot lights?

According to the order form (found Here), the tach only came with the gauges - sales code U7.

I like my 70 GS 350 with the standard interior, bench and the 3 speed stick in the floor. First person other than me to drive it forgot it was a three speed, pulled up to the light and tryed to stick it in 1st gear rolling around the corner( thinking it was a 4 speed). I quickly explained that up and to the left was reverse. :Dou:
