Interestingly enough, over on the "Wet behind the ears" section of this board, on page 3 of the thread regarding a 71 stage 1 convertible, a fellow board memeber claims to know who has the Buick paperwork for the '71s. Is anyone with knowledge of what to look for as for as the factory Buick documentation following up on this potential lead? This would be very helpful to '71 owners. Thanks, Ken
No doubt what a color to special order :spank: if it even was. Galen Govier gets compensated very handsomely by the mopar people to do this stuff. I would hope you would as well. :dollar: DL
DL states, "Galen Govier gets compensated very handsomely by the mopar people to do this stuff. I would hope you would as well." Yeah, that's a good one, I'm lucky if I get lunch out of it. I get a small fee for decoding buildsheets and sometimes do that for free, like I did with your car. Other then that people would either bring their cars to my shop or to a car show I attended and I would go over them. That is what I was supposed to do with the Dark Green 71 car. The owner/seller was supposed to bring it on Friday, when I would have had the time to really go over it. Instead the car got there late Saturday when I was running around like a nut with other responsibilities. Duane Now back to our regularly scheduled program, the selling of a documented 1971 Cortez Gold GSX.
Hard to prove a 71 X is real without paper work and even harder to prove if its not :bla: Way to get the train back on the tracks.. Duane.
Someone cashed my check! It wasn't you ? 13.6k day and 1/2 left. Get your bids in, Mark will do it up Nice for you. :3gears: DL
Never got a real price on the cost of restoring this car. I've heard mention of this car being done but no real price quote from those who know the car.
Look at my previous post. Unless you can do a lot of the work yourself figure 600 to 800 hours in resto and then multiply that times the hourly figure they charge for their work. Plus parts. I didn't really look into the auction. Are all the original parts there? Would you have to buy any GSX specific parts? I saw one door was changed, do you want to find date coded body parts? NOS fenders? NOS coresupport? Headlight doors? The sky is the limit when you do a frame off. Is it a concours car you want? Can you be satisfied with just a nice driver? I can tell you this I have seen Then and Nows work several times and Mark and his crew can get it done. With Marks committment to Buicks by making parts no one else would he is worthy of this job and will put a fine car out the door.
If you are serious call Mark (that is why he put his number there).ou: They can restore it from concourse Gold to a nice driver. But you have to let Mark know what you want, then he can tell you what to expect. :TU:
Car is for sale completed to Concours gold condition...guaranteed... Bargain---75,000.00 total. Bid and buy and that is the down payment. Weekly payments on invoice work to completion. If you have ever wanted a real car, NOW IS THE TIME!!!!!! Mark
Now there's an offer. Mark can you slow your guys down to 5-6 hours a week :eek2: ? I could afford that.. DL
$75k for a documented 71 GSX in finished concourse Gold condition!:beers2: Someone is going to get a great deal, I sure wish it were me...:Brow:
The auction is over and the reserve was not reached so it looks like nobody will know now. If you're serious about the car a phone call to Mark would probably get you an answer. Duane
