harvey, Im not selling my car for 13,500. i was just making a point that I had bought mine last year for 13,500. I just realized after I emailed that you might have thought I was selling it for that. Didnt mean to get your hopes up!

You're not selling for 13,500. :ball:  I figured that before I got your email. What a great car for a great price!
    Congrats

  5. I'm happy for Scott, he was hoping for at least the 4000.00 reserve and got an extra 14000.00. but it's stuff like this that makes this hobby less and less fun each day. pretty soon only the people with big $$ wiill own these cars and the average working guy will only be able to dream about owning one. back in the good ol days a fellow advertised his car or parts for sale at what he wanted for them and if you wanted them and could afford his price you bought them. now the price is dictated by how bad a thousand or 10 thousand other people want the item and who has the most money.. i feel that Ebay will drive a lot of people out of the hobby. i know i aint far from leaving myself...

Yup, sucks. I think Barret Jackson is raising the prices even more too.

But I will say, the Buicks are undervalued cars as of now. I mean Chevelles still go for 5-10k more in the same condition and they made 3-4 times more of them in any given year.

I still feel the GSs and 442s are the next big money getters following the MOPARs lead of a few years ago.

But I get what you are saying. For all the guys at girls out there that are truly passionate about cars, I wish you all a killer ride of your dreams.

Sorry guys, but I'm going to give you an opposite opinion. After all if we all thought the same it would be a very boring world!

The prices of houses have gone up considerably in the past 10 years also. If you use the same reasoning you should be selling your house and renting for the rest of your life. (I don't think so.) My point here is that if you already have a car you need not worry. If you buy and sell you are only trading equity.

ebay and the internet have only given us the exposure to buy the parts we need. The market determines the value. I've been playing with cars for 30 years now. I remember not being able to find the simplest parts simply because there wasn't a medium to find or advertise them. When I had Olds' I joined the Olds club and had only their newsletter and members to rely on to find stuff.

I actually believe that the prices of parts has come down considerably because of the availability. At least now there are CHOICES. Ever try to get repopped sheet metal 10 or 15 years ago?

I also think that it is finally possible to spend 25,000 on a car and actually get your money out. That is if you spent the 25,000 on the right car!

There you go...more fodder for debate!
    Cheers
    Harvey
