Evans : I do not see the manf. on the hose and I did not buy that one myself. As I mentioned I did buy a top hose for another 70 from NAPA which fits. Someone said NAPA uses Gates as a supplier but I have no personal knowledge this is the true. That car is 30 miles away in our hangar so I cannot give you the NAPA number until the weekend. I remember from another old series of posts that someone claimed to have asked Dave Kleiner and he said use the Gates hose. If I am wrong I apologize in advance but I think it was Jim Weise. Something came up and I did not make Reynolds but am planning to attend Moultrie Ga. this Sat. Have you ever been? It is a good show and swap meet. A lot of cars are there. The weather is supposed to be a high of 58 which tells you how cold the rest of the country will be. JIm Lore
Jim, Weekend would be good for the NAPA number. No rush. I really want to purchase an upper rad hose that actually fits! On the Moultrie show...... I've been a few times. That event is held twice a year and is HUGE. Multi-marque show with very few Buick parts. There is a guy there each year in a super nice 70-2 Sportwagon selling Rallye steering wheels. I don't know if he's on this site or not? The car corral usually has a couple hundred cars with at least a couple of GS and a couple of GN/TR cars. If you fly there (remember you're a pilot), I think you can fly to the actual site (Spence Field). Very convenient. I prolly won't make it this time but will shoot for Feb when it rolls around again. Last time I was there, they also had a pretty good size auction. I've seen a few off this site that plan to be there this weekend. 58 degrees or so is cool to many here in our state believe it or not!
Evans: Flew into Spence field last year for the same event, but the Maule aircraft people would not sell us any av-gas so we had to go somewhere else to tank up for the trip back. Pretty cool to be able to land and taxi the aircraft right up to the car show. There are few places now that you can do this. Once upon a time you could land along the road on a grass strip at the big Hershey show, but those days are gone. If the forecast stays cold I may save my trip to FLA for the Turkey Run Thanksgiving Day. The wife says a Buick from the Lore inventory must go. So it looks like our only 4 speed-- a 1970 455 convt with air is going down there to be put on the chopping block for sale. Oh well, you cannot keep them all. Jim Lore
Evans: The NAPA top hose number is: EBP HH80 AL50 Went to Moultrie. Lots of cars. Many projects and basket cases. I saw a 1935 Pierce Arrow that was just a rough template and a name plate. More cars are hauled in on flatbeds than any place I go. Will come back in Feb. Jim Lore
I got a Kelly-Springfield part #XL-107 at Autozone last night, it fits my '70 GS perfectly. It was a bit of a struggle to get it on, at first it seemed short. I put the end on the radiator first and pulled it over to the motor and clamped it on. Once I got it clamped on both ends, I noticed that it fit the hook perfectly. I started the motor and ran it for 15 or 20 minutes and the hose seemed to relax a bit. Once heated and pressurized, I let it cool and took the clamp off one end and clean some glue off it, It seemed to fit perfectly without any struggle, when I put it back together. It was $6.99 whereas the Goodyear hose that looked a bit different, but had the same number (107), was something like $26.99. Scott
