I was able to get it out again today. Big rainstorm has cleared the roads of salt, might fill er up tomorrow and go again. Got the downshift sorted. Full throttle, or very close to it, gives the 3-2 downshift that these BT(?) trans suck at delivering because of no 3-2 valve. Spinning in the first two gears is now very easy, and can even be done uphill. I’m getting confident in controlling a 4500lb boat with the tires alight
It's time to start the betting 14.35 first run because "well it's the first run".. 13.97 by the end of the day...Edit: If no wheel spin and full throttle of the line.. Way better the next time at the track when all the kinks and finer tunings are fixed
John, Your post has en inspired me. I saw a Chrome Service sign and next thing you know I've dropped my car off for both fenders, one door and both 1/4 panel repair. I'm very excited. All old impalas even and station Wagon under way. Very excited.
It takes a lot to get a big boat up on a plane, so to speak, so don't be offended. My guess is 14.26....
I had a '71 Stage 1 back in 1984 and at the time the best I could ever get out of it was 13.93. Had a Mallory Dual Point distributor but the rest of the car was original. It was fast, faster than all of my buddies' Mach 1's and Boss 302's and SS396 Chevelle's and 442's, etc. I've never had a Riv that was a fast as that 71 and I've had 9 of them over the years. New cam, headers, nice exhaust and tuning are a great place to start but I think you're gonna need more head flow to break 13.99. Again, no offense intended. This is just my opinion based on my experience.
Hey that’s what it’s all about, I welcome all experience, and it’s good to learn more, so that if I don’t ring that 13.999 bell, I won’t fuss too much over it
I got 14.40s out of my 67 with good tune and 26in slicks. 50/50 Cam2. Crappy Midas exhaust. You have better exhaust and a cam....
