What do you think? The only thing I'm not set on is the color, but it is growing on me the more I stare at it.
You want to build yours like that?I do not like a custom like that.Do it to a Chevelle or something more common but not a Buick,Would not really resemble a Skylark anymore anyway..You did ask what I thought.........
No problem, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think restoring a basic skylark is a waste of money myself. No possible return on investment unless it is a rare one. I love the lines of a Skylark, and the Chevelle is too boxy and common.
There was a guy on here whos last name was like Arvensis(sp) and I think he was out of Florida...that kind of looks like his car of which I believe there are a few photos of it on this website- color was similar .... http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?p=894572#post894572 J.
Yeah, his is House of Colors Pagen Gold. Mine is more of a Mustard yellow-orange. but I thought the same thing..looks kinda similar.
I've always had a thing for hidden headlights, so here's my version. I think the side trim with the 3 portholes adds a lot to the car. I'd keep it.
Phil I love the stance and rims :TU: color well not my first choice:grin: Are you upgrading the suspension and brakes too so they match the looks?:3gears:
Yes, upgrading a bit. 1990 C4 corvette front suspension and rack and pinion steering, rear mini tub with a 9" rearend and a custom 3 link, and hopefully airbags all around. Engine will be either a twin turbo LS2 or a big single turbo 383 Small block Chevy.
Have you considered putting a Buick engine in it? The 401, or 425 nailheads are supposed to slip in easily and make tremendous torque. Those nailheads can look fantastic with a few dressup goodies. Don't understimate the attention you'll get with something other than a small block chevy. You picked the Buick because it was unusual, stay with that theme. Just a thought. John
I picked the Buick because I like the body style better than any other A-body. The SBC is easy, and cheap to build power, and I know building them. Nothing against the buick engines, just not familiar with them, and its hard to pass up the extensive aftermarket the SBC has. Trying also to stay small(need room for the turbo and related plumbing), and light(if I go LS2 it's all Aluminum).
well i hate cowl hoods but othere than that i love it i would use a buick engine though just about as much for a buick 350 400 430 455 parts wise as there is a chevy and would just make it that extra step cooler efi a buick 350 and twin turbo it then it would make everyone give it a double take and wouldnt cost that much just need a tpi chevorlet efi system minus the manifold and change the firing order to the buick then drill out a 4 barrle buick manifold for injectors to efi it another good engine would be a turbo 231 v6 from a gn there cheap to build and very fast if i did go with a chevy engine i would run a gen 3 or 4 engine (ls1 ls2) wouldnt even wast my time on old style small block also to run a chevy motor in a buick require more than just a chevy engine diffent radiator wiring harness transmission etc
also what program(s) did you use to artist render that i have used photo shop but it doesent work as good as that that looks like some type of clay modeling program
Swapping the engine is easy. the wiring needs redone anyway, a trans is in the garage now(th400) but may do the swap to a t56, was planning to cut up the core support to make room for a bigger radiator and space for the intercooler. This isnt just a lowered, painted cruiser..it will be very custominzed from nose to tail...think Overhaulin' PLUS. I didnt render it..it was done by Kris horton. www.carsbykris.com
see my 66 is getting the same concept but im rolling a 401 nailhead backed by a 4l80e with a 355 or 373 in the rear car should get 20mpg or better and be extremely fast its also getting tubular control arms and all the goods th400 is something else i wouldnt roll no overdrive and just like my 4l80e is going to take some massaging and cutting to fit the 2004r would be me chioce if you go with a sbc and with the gen 3 or 4 motor id run the 4l60e from it you will have ecm and all to control it unless your carbing the motor which is a waste of a ls based engine to drop the ls based engine is even harder requires a custom oil pan custom alt and ac brackets custom motor mounts new gas tank and fuel pump(been down that road 3 or 4 k for a engine then 2k or 3 to get it in the car) and as for the sbc its overdone and basically kills the car its like looking at a sweet chevelle and it be ford powerd but that is my opinion what are you ideas for interior
I like it...i'm doing something similar with my '65 right now. 383sbc with lightly ported doublehump heads, a single T4 turbo setup, Bradco 700R4 with a full manual valvebody/transbrake, 3.23gears etc etc If you find anyone who makes a cowl hood for a '65 let me know because i want one.
