Harle, I've got the backup deletes also. The rear bumper looks really cool with them installed. So that's a factory radio delete plate... Anyway you could post a more zoomed-in pic of it? I have never seen one, only heard of them. I guess I got some searching to do. Do you know if GM would allow the deletion of the radio aross all the models, Special/Skylark/GS, or only on one specific model? I'm assuming these things are not easy to come by. Thnaks Vince
Vince The radio delete was rare in the buicks, I had to get a parts car for my restoraition and it had the radio delete in it, the car had drivers side mirror delete also but i just could'nt handle that.
Here's the parts car. I used all the sheet metal on the white car for my gran sport, hated to, but had no choice the body was junk. :Brow:
Question O K someone clue me in just what exactly is a "factory light weight car" and how much lighter is it than the others???? :Brow:
In the early 60's the factory Super Stock cars went on major diets mostly with aluminum body parts or acid dipped components.
Sorry Brucer The stock wheel was to much added weight, I sold it on the board here a while back :spank:
Harle, thanks for the close up shot. :TU: I'm on the look out. I was planning on just finding a 67-72 Chevy truck delete plate, they seen to be easier to locate and are real "plain-jane" look'n. One more question if I may ask. Your four speed... its a T-10 iron case? From what I read only the early Corvettes got the aliminum case T-10s. Thanks Vince.
factory light weight cars Yes, I am familiar with those, I was there when it happened. I just have never heard of Buick stating what constituted an offical " factory light weight car." For instance in 63 I serviced out a Ford That was ordered as a light weight car. It had no sound deadner, no undercoating, Rubber mats with no padding, all window glass except the windshield was plexiglass, no window cranks, straps with snaps held the windows up. The front fenders, hood, and trunk lid was fiberglass. There was no mat in the trunk. There was no radio, no heater and no a/c. It had a 405 horse 406 cu.in. engine/ 4speed and 4.11 equa lock diff. It was a bear. i would like to know if Buick ever made anything similar.
Doc, As far as I know, Buick never constructed a "light weight" car. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. I just always liked the therory of a stripped down Buick. Vince
Vince The T-10 Was long gone when I got the car It has a rebuilt Saginaw in it now, Here's a picture of the speaker delete.Harle :3gears:
