Well I decided I was going to pull the drive train out of my 87 Turbo T and put it in my 65. First step was to get the car painted the same color so I would be more interested in it. Little did i know that the whole underside of the car was rotted out so this "little" project that didn't need to cost that much because I had a donor car turned into another money pit. Anyway here are some Pictures so far. If you want to see all the pictures you can check out the Album on Photobucket http://photobucket.com/65_GN

Hopefully the front end will be back on this weekend and I can finish up the wiring and radiator and all that good stuff. I still have to mount the computer and install the fuse box harness.

Unfortunately I'm keeping the old engine complete as a spare for my Mom's convertible

I'm probabaly going to part it out or sell it, what's left of it anyway. It's pretty gutted. the whole engine harness is out as well as the instrument panel and all of the computer wiring from the behind the dash. Also i'm taking the rear out to put it in my 81 455 big block Regal.

Please be sure to share photos of what you do for a fuel tank/pump combo. There is an aftermarket tank available if you get fed-up with the flat stocker which is hard to get a fuel pump in let alone deal with the sloshing. Ir guessing how creative you've been so far maybe you have a nice trick up your sleeve I haven't found when contemplating EFI'ing my V8 car.

For the fuel system i was able to find a tool to create the same ends on new line that the Regal had. So I ran new 3/8 feed and 5/16 return line up the frame and from the fuel rail to the frame. I connected the two with rubber hose and multiple hose clamps. I can take a picture of that tonight. I'm going to use the stock 65 skylark gas tank. I bought a new Spectra premium sending unit for the stock tank that has a 3/8 feed and 1/4 return. I was going to drill out the return to 5/16 because that is what the rest of the return is, but on the regal the return is 5/16 from the rail to the frame but right at the frame it goes to 1/4 so we'll see what happens. I'm probably also going to extend the feed line on the take side of the sending unit to extend it to the back of the tank further to hopefully alleviate the fuel slosh issue.

For a pump I went with a TREPerformance universal external fuel pump and stock GN fuel filter. I did some research on turbobuick.com and a few guys over there are using the same pump. It's supposed to flow 255lph just like the walbro I had intank in the regal. If that doesn't work i'll either buy an Aromotive a1000 pump or spectra premium has an EFI gas tank for the 65 that isn't too expensive. Part number for that is GM37JFI.

I did try to fit the regal gas tank in the 65. I would have to modify the fill neck to get it to fit, however it is much taller than the stock tank and I didn't want it sticking down past the bumper so I decided not to go that route.

I think you should change the title into 65 Gran National or 65 Grand Sport :)
    Very interesting thread !

You have posted a lot of "big" photos from your Photobucket album.
Remember that we have board members logging in with dail-up internet or mobile devices.

For them it's not easy to view your thread, they have to wait a long time to load the page, or have a monthly data limit.
So maybe it's better to show thumbnails of your photos in your next posts :TU:

When you go to your Photobucket album, you move your pointer over the thumbnail to copy and paste the IMG code.
(You can also adjust your settings to always show the code(s))
But below the IMG code you see the IMG thumb code:

Copy and paste the IMG thumb code into your post and the image above will show up as a clickable thumbnail:

[IMG] < Click for the actual image :Comp:

wow - those "body off" off pics brought back some memorys . no hoist on my end though ! good pics for someone to check out thats thinking of doing that , alot less daunting seeing those before ya start . and you can get an idea of how easy everything is to work on . do your wiring homework ! thanks .

Good Idea. I just changed them. Never even thought of that.

That's interesting. I never thought about it, but even if the photobucket image tags are not using bandwidth on this server, it still takes a lot of time to load the pics on a handheld device? I kind of like the big pics though, I think it's more geared towards the desktop, which I assume most people here are still using because we're old fashioned. :) Of course I could be completely wrong too, that's always been a possibility. :p

    Here's another tip:

When I click on your thumbnails, I'm directed back to your album to view the photos.
That's okay, but when the images are big, I have to click on them again to view them in their actual size.

What you can do is changing the settings of the album, so when you click on the thumbnail it will take you to the real size photo straight away :TU:

    Example:

    Current situation:

    [IMG] < Click thumbnail :Comp:

After changing the "Link back to album" settings:

    [IMG] < Click thumbnail :Comp:

How to change the album settings :Smarty:

    Go to your Photobucket album,
and click on the little arrow next to your user name:

When you click the little arrow, a sub-screen pops up:

    Select Account Settings
In the next screen, select Album Settings:

    A new screen opens up:

Uncheck the Link back to albums box,
and don't forget to click Save

In the blue-bordered Links field, you can change the settings to view the IMG codes (mouse-over or not)

After you change the settings, it will change them for all your uploaded photos.
But it will not change the thumbnails you have uploaded/changed in your previous posts.
They can still be viewed in the old settings :TU:

    Ken,

You can still view the big photos by simply clicking on the thumbnails :TU:

Man i'm learning all kinds of stuff today. Thanks. I don't think i'm going to go through and re-link all of the photos though. That took forever. lol

    Bad Boattail Guest

No need for that, and when you post thumbnails in new posts, the new settings will be used :TU:

    Reading back:
I'm sorry for that long last post, it was not my intention to hijack your thread.

Looking forward for the progress on your project, keep us posted !!!
