64-65 Skylark/Special Fiberglass Hoods - I found a guy.

4 inch looks cool.

 

Ok guys my nephew called GlasTek which is in Indiana, and the owner said he has the mold for a 4" cowl bolt on hood it would take 2 to3 weeks to do. He said to call him back tomorrow to see how much the hood would be for 5 or more hoods. He also told my nephew that 1 hood would be 750.00 plus shipping and that he would give him a discount if there were more orders and the fact that he has a business. How many of you guys would be interested in buying one now, please let me know my nephew will read this post tomorrow and let GlasTek know. Thanks

 

I'm in for one as long as weight is less then my steel one. Must be 4" and bolt on.
GlasTek is quality! I have a 4" cowl on my 69 Camaro.

Psst.............Glasstek is in Illinois if it's the same place I referred you to. Unless they have moved and not changed their website. I should see if I get a discount since my steel hood was used for the inner structure mold.

 

I really like the size of this one, what size is this? Are the ones being made only 4"?

 

I really like the looks of that size as well. I am guessing that is 3". For this order, it can be whatever we decide as a group.

I vote for 2.5" or 3" also.

I envision this as a group purchase by people who all agree on a finished product. If we can all agree in this thread on what we want. And, enough people are interested to make it worth the suppliers effort to build the mold. Then, we need a hood to make a mold from. Once we have all that, I suggest that we invite the would be maker to the thread and start the process.

 

I'm interested in a glass bolt on also, as long as it DOESN'T have a chebby scoop on it. Not trying to offend anyone. It's just not my style. If anyone wants to sell an old glass hood, or any other 65 glass, drop me a line.

you can get a stock bolt on glass hood from Glastek. Just give them a call. Then if you wanted you could mold on a stg 2 scoop.

I'm game for a 2.5 to 3 inch cowl.. 4 in is a little to tall for me.

 

Do you prefer the 2.5-3" or the 4"?

 

It seems we have some that want 4" and some that want a 2.5"-3". I have started a list in the opening post for those that want the 2.5"-3" and a separate list for those who want a 4". Make sure you specify in your post if you prefer 2.5"-3" or the 4" cowl scoop bolt on hood.

Posts by Brian (197064buickspec) & Engie (UnseenGSX) say that Fibertek is offering a solution for the 4" for $750. It is my impression that the unit price from Fiber concepts will be $450 however, we must provide a finished hood for Fiber Concepts to make a mold from.

 

I would be in for a 2.5" or 3". Not from glastek though. I have a glastek hood on my Camaro and it fits terrible and is very flimsy.
Also if the price is 450-500 I'm in depending on time frame. I'm quite a ways from body work.
