With good ported iron heads you could use a smaller camshaft and have a stronger torque curve along with better throttle response and the potential for good mileage, and still hit the mark. However... with any head possessing a sorted out velocity profile or port mapping, MORE cam could be used with very toned down characteristics, with even better low end response. There's more flow benches and head porters out there now with more time under their belt, just as there is more parts selection offered through the aftermarket. I'm only playing Devil's advocate with you Larry, I can see what you are saying. It should no longer be a question of "can or if?" but HOW one plans to do the build. Everyone is dependent on the resources they utilize, local or otherwise.
Yup, and that is what I told JW I wanted to do with my current build. I can drive the car anywhere and it runs consistent mid 11's. I am a happy camper.:grin:
