478 rear

I have an 1968 8.2 rear end from a gs 400. It has a set of 478 gears in it. It looks good and operated well in the car before being removed. Stored in heated garage.

The Dead End Kids car has those gears in it t00.

 

Probably only spinning the engine at 9400 rpm on the freeway. Lol

 

Factory 478 gears. stage 2 option only. To my knowledge. Rare piece.

 

Stage 2 cars ran in the 10’s with these gears and a Muncie. What a ride on bias ply tires in the 70’s

 

Well...My 3.90's spin about 3500 @65mph...My motor would love this ratio...my ears,not so much...

 

What code is the housing?

 

Its alot gear for sure, my 8.5 has 4.30s and with my 29" tire im just under 7k at the 1340

 

I will check the code. I was going to run this with an art carr 200-4r tranny and my 295 65 15s
