the problem is that gas will ball up and dissolve any kind of sealer ( and that can go into the engine ) thats why you never use any kind of sealer on carb gaskets or NEVER USE TEFLON tape on fuel fittings as they are flare fittings and do not seal on the threads. Ken
OK, thanks for the info. I never used sealer for the carb on my cars because it wasn´t neccesary. I also never used teflon tape for the fuel lines.
I want to thank everybody that posted on this thread and helped me out with the intake installation :TU: :beer you guys are the best! another thing with my old stock intake my water temp gauge read 180 and it never ever got above that, with the performer intake it now reads 190 but again it doesent go above that, should i worry about this? or is it normal..
If you changed your t-stat. do you still have the package? I'm guessing your original was 160 or 180 degrees. (it maybe stamped on the old t-stat) your new t-stat is a different temp or it's a tolerance difference between the old and new thermostat if they're supposed to be the same. The temp of the new one will be on the package. I would not worry about the 190 degrees, however if you use low grade fuel (low octane) keep an ear out for a small ping or knock under heavy loads (full throttle operation). Chances are the 10 degrees won't make much a difference.
I need to look for the package, but ill keep driving like i said i doesnt go above 190... next up.. shorty headers and TA stage 1 or 2 heads!!
