There's no discussion. I can see the scoring on it from here. That crank goes to the machinist for grinding.

If only it were that simple. Theres no way i would reassemble the engine without having it disassebled and cleaned due to the metal i found in the pickup and all the bearing material i found in the bottom of the pan. Who KNOWS how the cam bearings are but i can only assume theyre jacked up as well.

So at this point, i have to decide on either having my spare block rebuilt or sell off everything and go LS. While machine work DOES seem to be oddly cheap here in Cali I don't know if i can justify the cost of ANOTHER rebuild knowing i could pick up a 6.0 truck engine, swap the cam and add headers for less than the cost of rebuilding the damn Buick motor and probably make more horsepower.

Well, I checked with the machinst that's doing my heads about building the short block and its ridiculously cheap for machine work here compared to back in VA so im going to go ahead and go for it with my virgin block. I'll let them assemble it so there's no chance I can screw it up.

BTW, ALL of the main bearing were f-ed up and three of the pistons had the middle ring installed incorrectly.

I know it wouldn'r matter, but curious if one of the upside down rings were in the dead cylinder?

Where did you move to that machining is "ridiculously cheap"? And hopefully this shop is well versed with Buicks!

I wish you the best of luck this second time around and hope you end up with a great runner.:TU:

Yes, the dead cylinder had one of the incorrectly installed rings. SOCAL is where I live now. The shop that did my heads is highly recommended for machine work. I don't know how well versed they are with Buicks but they follow the directions I give them on how i wantthe bearing tolerances set so that works for me. Thanks for the welll wishes!

Got the engine dropped off at the machine shop today. Surprisingly, it fit in the truck of my GTO like a glove.
