Your probably right about the availability thing.
My 64 parts book only shows a # for the Riviera cap.
The 66 book also shows a different # for a cap for that wheel in the Wildcat.
    (I wish that I had a 65 parts book. )

I've never seen the emblem, but a guy was advertising un-plated horn bars in the Riview a couple years ago.

I don't know how you'd change the emblem anyway unless you glue it in place, it's riveted onto the cover. The rivets are part of the cover.:puzzled:

I think that was Gene Guarnere that had some pot metal horn bars cast. Sold them all out from what I understand. Getting these made =costly and not too rewarding when people complain about the price and quality. Hard to please us Buick Nuts I guess.

Topcat claimed to have put together a horn bar or two for his wildcats. I'll have to ask him how he overcame the rivit plastic center mounting problem-maybe liberal amounts of JB weld???

I need my parts book back!

Me likey the Wildcat center cap idea on the Riv wood wheel.

Stupid question but what year Riv wood wheels will fit the '65 Wildcat?

....and what problems are characteristic of these wheels? In other words, what to look for when buying one and how much?

I seem to remember reading cracked horn bars.

That particular wheel was used from 64 to 66 and primarily on Rivieras but was also available on Wildcats (mostly GS's) in 66.
The plasic "wood" is also prone to cracking, especially near the spokes and at the top or bottom.
I've seen them fetch as much as $800 or more on epay.
Try and find one that is complete from the hub to the cap since the individual pieces are seldom seen by themselves.

Yes JB Weld. I have used it to repair mine. You can't tell with the cap on. The Wildcat's came with the Trishield emblem. I have been looking for one for two years now so I can put a wood wheel on my 64 Electra converible. Not stock for that year but it will look good anyway. I hate the thought of taking apart the "R" cap I have but may have no choice or just go with running with the "R" cap and hope I eventually find the other cap.

Ok the carb rebuilds are underway. I'm just checking to make sure about the accelerator pump springs. The accelerator pump spring on the primary or rear carb has the soft return spring and the secondary or front carb has the stiffer spring. There is definitely a difference. I want to make sure whoever was in these before didn't mix them up. Is this the way they are supposed to be?

The rebuild kits are the same for both carbs and therefore have the same spring for both, which just happens to be in between the originals as far as stiffness goes.

    Any help is appreciated.

That was screwed up in my carbs. I had a stumble I couldn't fix. Ended up being a weak upper spring on the rear carb pump plunger. I forget which carb gets the stronger lower spring, but I think it's the front carb because that is what returns the throttle to idle on the front carb.:Smarty:

I believe you are correct, Joe.
The front (secondary) carb should get the heavier spring to insure that the trottles return to the fully closed position.
In fact, I'm pretty sure that there was some mention of that in the carb service sheets that I sent you copies of. :TU:

    Rick,
I think that I would use the springs that came with the carbs if I were you.
Also, I'm working on getting you those pictures that you wanted of the console shifter indicator.
PM me with an email address to send them to. :Comp:

Thanks for the info. I will go with the original springs the way they were.

Robert you have mail or about to. If you could forward those carb service sheets you sent to Joe I would greatly appreciate it.
