Sure doesn't look like a Mustang! Quite a departure with electric power and a giant smart phone to control it! The GT version will supposedly be capable of mid 3-second 0-60 times! It's gonna take some time to get used to this thing. Here are some pics from the Car and Driver site: I wasn't kidding about the giant smart phone controls!:
I think it was a massive mistake to put the name on the car/SUV from a marketing standpoint, but we'll see. I can't see Chevrolet making a Camaro SUV. Seems like it'd confuse consumers. It confuses me....but that's not difficult.
I can't belive they call it Mustang, and that oversixed tablet looks like the early self mounted dvd screens, that people with donks and dope thought looked cool..
Don't hate it yet.... here's a version that's more fitting of the Mustang name. Courtesy Motor1.com: https://www.motor1.com/news/382784/ford-mustang-mach-e-shelby/
It's got 4 doors and electric power. Taint no moostang even with go faster stripes.....oh, and it's an suv. Or a crossover. Does it even matter? It might be a fantastic vehicle. I just think the name is a terrible decision. I bet on the Mustang forums it's going nuts (I'm not a member of any), and people thought it was bad when they put the Corvette engine where it's supposed to have been since the 60s.....
The Mustang has been everything from an economy car to performance car, notchback, slantback, fastback, hatchback, convertible. I like it, keep it relevant.
Yeah, I wish they would have named it after a different breed of horse. I think 'Knabstrupper' is more fitting for this thing.
Wait, I got it! the perfect name.... The Machstang! or we can just call it the Mock-stang! now maybe I can get to sleep.....
Ot maybe they are just using the Mustang name now in the design/testing stage to generate all kinds of interest and talk about a vehicle that would not get that kind of press and discussion otherwise. Smart
With 619 FT/LBS of instant torque, AWD and a low center of gravity, it would smoke 99% of the cars on the road now. I think it looks pretty good. Looks a lot better with the blacked out “grille” area like in the rendering above. The tablet on the dash looks like an afterthought but I know that’s what a lot of people like these days.
Remember several years ago... There was a PR and it said they're going to go away from the car to the SUV
It will also be deadly consistent and simple on the drag strip with almost no between round attention or issues. Weather will have little to no effect in ET. That will be tough to beat if they catch on! Cheryl
This guy nailed my sentiments exactly: https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/ent...g-is-now-an-electric-shopping-cart/ar-BBWWonz
...playing their performance label card, Ford is marketing what we all know about electric drivetrain, in most popular platform, to current buyer demographic. "It's not personal Sonny, it 's strictly business"...
